Guess I can't even vote. I've never been fortunate enough to see any of these cues up close, let alone shoot with any of them.:(

I like Blackheart too. I know also a lot of people who like layani and omen. Lots of good small cuemakers that would never make it on a poll.

Yes there are many cue makers that are not listed. Searing is a definite on this board. His cues are great even if he is a horse's butt to get him to call you back. Socially challenged I think they call it. But his cues hit great and his re-sale value is going up. Every region has a local cue maker anymore. In my former home state there was only one for a long time. Now there is 5 that I know of. Mike Stacey makes the best looking cues. Jim Sickles makes the best hitting cues in the area. But if I went to re sell these cues no one would buy them outside of Indiana.

What about Black Boar? Nice cues. Are they in business anymore? Everybody goes ape over them on ebay (along with Searing). If you can find one (even a plain jane one) it is higher than hell.

Just my two cents

I think Southwest Cues hit *great*, but you get so little, as far as worksmanship, for the high price you pay. I'm sure the Franklins would disagree, but I can't bring myself to spend $2k+ for a plain 6-prong cue. If I spend $2300 for a cue (which is what I recently saw a plain 6-prong Southwest going for), I want to be awe'd every time I take my cue out of the case (after all, I'm spending enough to buy a car - albeit a relatively inexpensive one). Of the above cue makers, I would prefer a cue by Paul Mottey. I think his cues hit great, and they look *great*. Tim Scruggs' cues are also very nice.

Actually, no. It was a recently made cue. It looked like it was brand new. It did have some nice wood (I can't remember exactly which woods), but damn ... for that price I want to see more than "some nice wood" lol. :D

Again, the cues hit great - probably one of the best hitting cues out there (if you like a stiff hit), but because of the wait, the people who have them sell them at rediculously inflated prices.

they're easy to get. vince tedesco sell 'em brand new. i had no prob. at 1500-1600, you can at least make your money back on the resale.

Doubt it. I know three local cuemakers, Prewitt, Zylr and Morris, who make more solidly built cues than Stroud.
Of course, they are not as fancy as JW's. JW's look better on the wall but not on the table.

If you're in California, and you're talking about Ed Pruitt, I'd disagree about the JW's looking better on the wall. Nothing against JW, but Ed Pruitt's cues are every bit as nice looking. I remember when he first started getting known around L.A.. There were a lot of comparisons made between the quality of his inlay work and Ernie Guiterrez's. I don't know anything else about the cues (the one that I hit balls with hit pretty solid), but I do know they look really nice.
