Hello all
My name is Stephen Lanza from Milford, PA. I have been playing pool for many years and enjoy it immensely. Over the last few years I have gotten back into woodworking creating smaller items like boxes and the like. For a variety of reasons, I am not into making furniture, but as a pool player I have been making some billiard related projects like racks, bridge heads and scoring bead sets with real mini pool balls that handle 9 ball sets and straight pool scoring.
I have done all of the racks for Kevin Clark of Clarkys Billiards in the Scranton PA area and am working with other pool halls as well. Samples of my work in pics are part of this post.
The main purpose of this post is to introduce myself and my work and show some of my racks for sale in order to generate interest. I only use solid hardwoods in their construction. I don’t use any softwoods or composites. My wood selections include ebony, cocobolo, padauk, premium birdseye maple, premium curly maple, spalted maple, purple heart, bloodwood, zebra wood and less exotic woods like bubinga, cherry, walnut, flame birch, curly oak and oak.
Currently, I am offering two designs. One is solid wood with contrasting wood splines and corners as shown in the following picture:

The racks in the above picture, from left to right, are: cocobolo with ebony (2), curly maple and bloodwood, purple heart and ebony, flame birch and jarra wood (2), cherry and ebony, cherry and jarra wood (2), spalted maple and bloodwood (3), maple with some birdseye, and bubinga with oak.
The other design is layered with top and bottom binding of one solid wood and the center of a contrasting wood, with one spline, as shown in the following picture:

The racks in the above picture, from left to right, are: birdseye maple and bloodwood, birdseye maple and padauk (2), padauk and birdseye maple, padauk and ebony, bloodwood and ebony, purple heart and ebony (2).
Custom racks of your favorite wood are available upon request. Please note that a custom rack will not be an exclusive design for the purchaser. Copies of custom racks or racks of a similar design would be available for purchase by others.
The finish I use is a simple oil finish that will not stain the cloth on your table. This is NOT a film finish, which I believe will eventually get more pronounced dents from the racked balls. However, a film finish can be ordered for a custom rack.
The pricing for higher end woods like cocobolo, ebony, birdseye and curly maple in either the single wood or layered style are $140 each. Less exotic woods like oak, cherry, birch and walnut in either the single wood or layered style are $95 each.
My pricing always includes priority mail shipping and paypal fees. I only take paypal as paypal makes the shipping process relatively painless.
Also, even though I am NOT currently making them for sale, I wanted to show the quality of my other work (solid cherry custom scoring bead sets) in the following pictures:

Notice that the scoring bead sets are designed with a hidden turnbuckle in the end support. This is an exclusive design of mine.
If you are interested in my racks, have questions or custom rack requests please contact me via pm. I will be posting individual rack offerings with pictures shortly.
Thanks for your interest.
Stephen
