hello everybody , I have a cue smith II to repair cues , it's really good...
but I want use it to make protector... :)

(just because I am saving money to buy Deluxe Cue Smith

but cue smith II can not put 1-3/8" diameter wood into headstock,
so I want buy something to cut wood...

(wood is so fat,so I want cut wood thin....)

as follow is what I made yesterday...but very difficult.
(cost me 3 hours to do this....... )

should I buy one Dead Center and one live center?

so I can put Dead Center in headstock to hold wood, and put live center in tailstock , is right?

thanks

That's what to do, but a dead center with a side pin would be better so the peice doesn't slip. Chris Hightower has them.

Or even better, if you just want to make JP's, you can just buy some 4/4 stock.
Then use the money from the JP's to buy more wood (6/4 and more 4/4) so by the time you get your Deluxe, you can really get started :)

hi adonisy
i just wanted to add my 2 cents worth. i have never spent high on tools or equipment and been disappointed. i have however spent low and been disgusted. if you get a lathe with with a spindle bore less than 1 3/8" you will most likely be unhappy. just my thoughts. good luck mark
