Cutthroat !

So if you are 1-5 and you are at the table and shoot the 11 & 12 can you then shoot the 7 if that is the lowest of the of the 6-10 group left on the table or do you need to finish the 11-15 group before going after a different group? IE can you switch groups in the middle of a run as long as you are always contacting the lowest in each group?

Exactly... you can switch groups in your inning, shooting at either group in rotation.
We just threw the rotation in to put some position play in the game... Hmmm I like the idea of having to finish one group, though..

Silly game. Just play winner stays 8 ball and the three of you will get plenty of action.

Na not the same fun ,, funny this generation has no gamble we played cut throat pill pool ring game all the time ,, today's pool is match up looking for the edge ,, everyone gambled back in the day even if it was a dollar ,
Today's group just does not know how to have fun with the boys and maybe make a few bucks no one gets hurt ,, it's like a card night among friends
Boy oh boy do I miss those days

That's the whole idea, right there... it's me and two close pool brothers, $10-$20 a man,
having some fun. The card night analogy is spot on. We all play serious when it comes to matching up with others, or tournaments, but this is just kickin' it with friends.

I think a solid B player will run out in regular cut throat better than 50% of the time on his first shot if you play he can sink his own balls also. To make the game a little tougher run your own five balls in order.

Oh yeah, agreed... regular Cutthroat isn't a challenge at all... that's why we did rotation..
your idea sounds like "Five", which is your own five balls, but in rotation also... sounds cool!

Our little group is currently enjoying Cutthroat. With a normal set it was a little difficult to discern who has what so I picked up 3 sets of solid color balls. MUCH easier to play now.
After just a few games we were running racks too easily so we incorporated this rule, BANK THE LAST OBJECT BALL(s). Now we're getting several innings each and practicing our banks.
Nearing the nights end we get a bit tired and sloppy. One last game went 45 minutes.
.
We got a few other new rules to try out. How does 4 way Cutthroat sound?
Next time we'll play as individuals and teams in straight, rotation(9-Ball rules?) and Scotch partners.
Stay tuned.
