For a guy who has been "...doing my own table for over 20 years. no novice here", you sure do ask a lot of novice questions.when this guy cuts the cloth from rails, how is he not cutting through the rubber? his knife is pointed right against the rubber.
Zach is one of my students, I assure you he's not cutting the cushions. Once he has the cloth loose at the facing, he lift/pulls the cloth enough to allow him to cut along the nose of the cushions but angled above them the full length of the rail cloth.when this guy cuts the cloth from rails, how is he not cutting through the rubber? his knife is pointed right against the rubber.
Everyone has some sort of method of cutting the rail cloth, but cutting the cushions is unacceptable.I use scissors instead

yes i have no doubt at all he is cutting into the rubber. Thanks for the explanation. The guy is so good at what he does.Your videos are awesome and i followed your methods for first time yesterday. I was putting an Andy cloth on a 9ft table and done the pull test and pulled 95mm from side pocket. I gave back 20 mm and had an index of 75mm on 3 rails. I physically couldn't pull more than 50 mm. does 75 mm index sound too much?Zach is one of my students, I assure you he's not cutting the cushions. that's very helpful. For a guy who has been "...doing my own table for over 20 years. no novice here", you sure do ask a lot of novice questions.
All depends on your strength to pull. And Ansy cloth don't have much stretch to begin withyes i have no doubt at all he is cutting into the rubber. So would it be wise to just cap the index at around 50mm? Perhaps the way the cloth is made, it's pulling more at sides than length? All depends on your strength to pull. And Ansy cloth don't have much stretch to begin with
That's like saying all cloths stretch the same. On a 7ft Valley Championship 3030 stretches about 4 1/2" side to side, whereas Simonis 860HR only stretches 1 3/8".So would it be wise to just cap the index at around 50mm? Perhaps the way the cloth is made, it's pulling more at sides than length?
but if i struggle to pull to my index line, I'm asking if i should just go little less? I really appreciate this help BTW. blown away that you taking time to chat with me.That's like saying all cloths stretch the same. Also if you dont mind. On anchor side of side pocket i pulled in 20 mm and on pull side i went 15mm(not sure why they should be different).I ended up with creases at apex of side pocket slate. I had to remove around 20 staples at side of pocket to release some slack and got the ripples out. This means i allowed too much index(20mm) on side pocket?but if i struggle to pull to my index line, I'm asking if i should just go little less? Yes, by all means back off. What ever you back off side to side, back off double end to end. Also if you dont mind. ty so much. BTW i am semi pro pool player(won Australian titles etc) so my passion for table conditions and quality are very important to me. Watching your videos as we speak for the 4th time.So clear and precise. Appreciate it!Yes, by all means back off. What ever you back off side to side, back off double end to end.

Side to side should not be a struggle, but end to end should be more difficult. If you pull too hard on your first stretch, the last ones will come up short. The idea behind indexing is to have the stretch be even all the way around.if i struggle to pull to my index line, I'm asking if i should just go little less?
yes the side to side was no struggle. It was the last foot rail that i couldnt physically pull anymore and had to contend with it being 25-30 mm short of target line.Side to side should not be a struggle, but end to end should be more difficult. You will get a feel for it on the first table you stretch, and the rest should all be the same.
I have a 7ft non worsted Strachan 6811 to do tomorrow. There is no reason why i cant use your method of stretch order is there?I have always started with 3 staples in centre of foot end then 3 staples in centre of head end then sides then corners. All, installers i have seen use this method. I'm liking your order of stretch much better.Thank you very much.
