just traded for, they are in fair shape, thinking of restoring them.just wondering if they are desirable cues and worth the attention and time.any info is greatly appreciated.

If you are going to restore them, McDermott's refurbishing service is the way to go. New shaft, new wrap (linen or leather) and refinish for $235.

Tap,Tap,Tap Hard to beat that price with a new shaft... BTW some of the butt caps and Joints on the older cues have to be change. Jamie over at Mcdermott was telling me about this. when I was thinking about refinishing a D-11. Some thing about there new finish would not work on the old butt caps and joints.

The D line cues are generally considered some of the best production cues ever made - they're the pinnacle of McDermott's output. McD told me they were having joint collars & butt caps made by a contracted company, and didn't find out until late that these people were using silicone in the molds to keep parts from sticking. That's why you see so many D line cues (I own 2 - one is a one off) with finish chipping at the joint collar & butt cap. Many of the ones they use to re-finish (including one of mine) they ground a chamfer on the joint collar finish to avoid having a hard, square edge, and thus inhibit chipping.
They're real nice cues.
