D Appleton's lag

I've noticed something the last few times I've seen Darren Appleton lag: he puts english on the CB. The CB comes off the footrail at about a 10-15% angle.

Most recently at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABT4r0wEMIs&feature=player_detailpage#t=420, but I've noticed it a couple of times.

I guess he never did the "bring the CB back to your tip" drill :D or maybe he's hustling his opponents..."This guy doesn't know how to play. He can't even hit the ball straight!"
 
Did you notice how dead whitey was on the break?
He can find center when he has to.
 
I always put English on my lag to get the longest roll out of it. Spin it a bit toward the center of the table.
