Damaged balls

Hearing the balls.....

Hello mechanics,

a guy *made* the tables in a clubhouse/poolhall here in my town. Already in the last 2 years the balls were so crazy damaged that i really wondered. Now, 3-4 months ago the table got new cloth again-and new ball sets. And now after this short time the balls are damaged again- it s really sad.

Could this be caused by wrong installed pockets? that s my idea about it. How could you avoid it?

Enjoy your day,
lg from overseas,

Ingo

I've seen pockets held in with drywall screws... the edges of the screws are not very kind to balls. Any hardware in the path from the pocket to the ball collection area could be causing damage.

thx guy here for the first responses. the tables are brunswick century, if that helps. will try to make photos this week,

thx
Ingo

look closely at the inside of the rubber pocket buckets there are 2 screws in the upper corners that recess into the buckets if they are the wrong screws or not fully seated they could come into contact with the balls also make sure that rubber buckets have the upper lip intact where they cover the top edge of the stainless steel corner mitres they should go over the top edge of the steel.

I just finished my GC3 this week, opened a brand new set of Super Aramith Pros and after playing for a day saw a small chip on the 4 ball. I thought it was when it fell off the table (concrete floor) but my pocket screws weren't tightened up. I didn't have a 4mm allen key socket so I screwed them up finger tight and was playing until I went and bought one. Good thing I read this post - cross my fingers and will inspect the rest of the balls!
