I expect that it is Danny Janes, former partner of Bill Stroud. Just a guess. He did make a very nice cue, a long time ago.

Check out My new Joss!

I highly Recomend Dan James and Joss cues, you wont find a better cue maker to deal with, whether its a production or a custom, I trust Dan.

I also Recomend OB-1 American made Shafts!

Joss is Dan Janes, not James.

His shop is right up the street from me. nice looking cue. The points are nice but i'd like them a bit wider at the bottom. Congrats, Dan has been making some of the nicest production cues out their recently. If I ever went back to a production cue, it would be from him. His custom stuff is decent as well.

Along the lines of shafts, I prefer the shafts that come with the cue.

Congrats on the new cue. New cues are always a good time.

:o my bad, I fixed it.... Sorry

I think that the fact that it was a Joss cue (J-18) that Paul Newman had in "The Color Of Money", (Not a balabushka as stated in the movie), really says alot about Dan's work and reputation, not as a cuemaker, but in the pool world as a whole :)

Congrats on getting such a sweet cue stick :)

i bought an n7 a while back and had him make me one with a uni loc joint. heres a couple pictures. the only thing i dont like is that the points are inlaid and the 2 veneers next to it are spliced, and the last veneer is inlaid....strange. its the 3rd from the top. the one in the movie is a J18. not sure but i believe it had a birds eye forearm instead of curly. i would also imagine everthing about the point would have been spliced. i havent been able to ever find a picture of it though.

The Joss N-7 is the copy of the "balabushka" cue Vincent used in the movie. I've seen the J18 on a couple websites and it looks quite a bit different.

On the Josscues.com website they have it listed as AV18-N7 but refer to it as N-7 in the description.
do you remner where you seen it? the only picture i have seen is the one in the blue book which is black and white. i would like to pick one of these up if i could ever find one for sale.

Dan usually keeps them in stock. Call him.

edit to add:

Found it under "available cues" on his site. http://www.josscues.com/html/cues/AV18.html

I don't understand... are you ignoring the link in my post or refusing to use google or what? Google "joss color of money" or "color of money cue" and you'll get results... jeez. Not trying to be mean but it's RIGHT THERE.

i have one of those (pictured above). looking for an original j18 which would be the exact design as the one in the movie.
well then you have the cue in the movie. there isn't a better example for sale unless someone can locate and sell the actual cue used in the movie.
