can any share any information about Danny Stout Cues? Prices or how they play and if he is building any? Thanks

Danny is a North Carolina cuemaker (Asheboro) . I have "heard" that he no longer builds cues... I don't know if this is a permanent thing or not. I have a friend with a 6-point Stout that I like very much... It is very well made and balanced. The fit-finish is excellent. It is lighter than I "like" and hits as such... but still a solid, well-made cue. Prices seem to be under $1000 for some pretty heavily inlaid cues. I believe my friend's cue was in the $700 range new. Probably $400-500 now would be "fair" market value. I have never seen a "fancier" Stout than his... (I have only seen 5-6, maybe a few more not recognized) .

One of my friends at our pool club has a Stout cue. So far I've hit with it only a few times but it feels quite solid, you can hear the "plink" sound on the impact. Also the shaft feels quite stiff and it's not a soft hitting cue. IMHO, the cue hits nicely and lively. Too bad the cue is only 57½" long, so it's too short for me and I almost dropped it a couple of times when reaching for a long shot over the table. I don't know if Stout cues have a standard length of half an inch short of the regular 58". I remember the cue having 4 or 5 inlaid points and some decorations in the butt sleeve, like wood inlays and some abalone. I think that particular cue goes around $500.

I heard he passed away , also . He made some cue with lots of inlays , but the price never got up to where they should have been . Lot of work for little money . Jim
