dark marks on ferrule?

Atlas ferrule materials

Hey guys, just though I'd throw in my .02 here! The last batches of ferrule rod I got from Atlas was pretty crummy also. I've been speaking with one of the reps, and they have an Ivorine-IV coming out soon. It is supposed to be EXTREMELY clean and chalk resistant. The only downside is that it is also very hard. You apparantly need a metal lathe, or a lathe capable if cutting stainless to be able to work with this stuff!

They also have a new material out called "titan." I recieved my sample last week; has anyone else tried this material out? It is very easy to machine, and ribbons off of my cutter, easy to glue, chalk resistant, and supposedly virtually unbreakable. It seems really light weight, and has a kind of "cheap" feel/appearance in the raw. I installed a couple of ferrules, and I have to admit they look really good installed and polished out. Does this type of material hold up well?

I just purchased MCB WHITE FERRULE ROD. so that I could make my own ferrules. I just made & installed one on one of my shafts. but there seems to be one or 2 dark spots on the ferrule after I turned it down. seems like they are dark spots that were inside the ferrule rod. is this normal? if not what can I do to remove them or conceal them. I dont want to say where I purchased the rod. I dont want to start bashing before I know what is expected of MCB.

Are they there after turning them on the lathe or after sanding?
If it looks OK after cutting them on the lathe try some sanding sealer or thin super glue to seal the pit BEFORE sanding.
