I am sitting here reading Cardplayer (Nov. 1 2005 issue) magazine, and I am reading this article on "Clash of the online Poker Titans" and a person called "Gigabet" aka Darrell Dicken is a top online poker player and was a former semi-pro pool player. Now from his picture, I would guess he is around 30+ years old, where he is from is unknown from the article, but suggested he was a big money player as a pool player and a world class pool tournament player.

Now I would guess he is from the US. Does anyone on out there know this person or know of him. Just curious. Thanks.

He is known as "Gigabet" in online poker, and he is one of, if not the best online tournament players in the World. He plays mostly on Pokerstars and Party Poker in the big tournaments they run.

He is also known for his crazy plays, if you read an explanation on a play he has tried, it is so complex it will blow your mind lol!

According to the article, his success on online poker is off the charts. I also read in "all-in" magazine (not sure if it was this one) but a 24 year old from Sweden has won like $5 million over the last few years playing online poker. Just incredible....

Erik Sagstrom aka "Erik123", he was one of the first people to play online poker, he has actually reportedly won around $10 million online. He started playing when he was only about 16!!

sure we all know him. He is from Waterloo, iowa. He won the valley open 8-ball title one year. I think it was 2002. Havent seen him in the pool scene for a while but I saw his brother last year at the state tourney. Nice guy. Semi-pro or real strong player? maybe not. Glad to hear he is having success.

Thanks for the background information. Alot of successful poker players were successful at pool and getting their names in magazines- Jay Helfert, Tang ho, John Hennigan, Jimmy White (UK)... just to name a few. I wonder if pool magazines will mention that some successful poker players are also successful pool players as well.
