Darth Barretta

Thanks, Barbara. We're actually working on adopting a dog from a local shelter. There are so many dogs here in NY that need homes!

Jenn

Hey Jenn, there are a number of places in the New York area (as I'm sure you're aware of). North Shore is probably the best of the bunch. They even have a website with pics of available dogs (http://www.nsalamerica.org/adopt/dog_gallery.html).

The lone time I went to the ASPCA, I was surprised to find out they had very few animals available for adoption. Animal Control sees the most activity. If you have any plans on going there and have never been there before, please understand that it's a very emotional place. If you care to hear of my experiences, just PM me.

Good Luck and I hope you're doing okay.

We're avoiding going to the shelter for that reason. There is a great website, www.petfinder.com, that shelters all over the country post to. You get to ask them all about the dogs you're interested in and then set up a meeting. I know once I see them face to face it's hard not to take all of them home.

RIP, Tiny.

Sorry about the lost of your pet. I have lost several over the years so I understand how you feel. Its like losing a part of you. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Please feel free to contact me if there is anything I can do. Take your time and find the pet that's right for you. Nothing will take Darth's place but you have enough room and love with your family to have another join in. Pets are so comforting and they are always there for you. Good luck with your search and take care.
Kay

Thanks, Kay! We are actually going to pick up our new dog tomorrow. He was abandoned in Delaware, he's 18 months old and he's beautiful. Darth will never be replaced, but it will sure fill some of the hole in my heart having some doggie love around the house.
