David Brainard cues from Salem OR

Has anyone here ever played with or heard of David Brainard cues?

I see he is a cue maker from Salem OR, and I found his website on his Facebook page.

CuesDirectly.com

Anyways, his cues look really nice.

I assume he is a new cue maker, so was thinking that maybe I could get a nice looking sneaky pete from him for pretty cheap.

I am very curious if anyone here has heard of his cues though .

Thanks

I have to say, Dave is super great to deal with. He goes to limit for helping you with exactly what you want.
If you are looking for fancy inlays or paint and stains then they are not for you. However he has top quality woods from Rosewood to Cocobolo and so on. He made me a one off.. Eastern Stripped light Maple beauty with 5 ring sets and mother of pearl trim. 60" 30 inch shaft and 19 oz. 13" taper..etc.. For an amazing $200..MONEY BACK GUARANTEE if you don't like it ..no hassle..I placed order and a week later it arrived ...don't know if we can add pictures here.this is my first post..but I am extatic with my purchase.

Excerpt on Dave's policy. ...

Sorry if I don't do Points and Inlays, I am a one man shop and I keep plenty busy without them. I have the setup to do them, I have done them but it does add time and time is money, besides, it won't improve the performance of the Cue and that's what is most important too me. There are many fantastic Cue manufactures who offer some great inlay work but I have my niche and that makes me smile.

My Cues run true and straight. My main Lathe weighs 1,000 pounds and it's Spindle is dialed in with a runout of less than 1/10,000 of an inch. I use a very expensive 6 jaw chuck that is 4 point micro adjustable and has a repeatability claim of .0005" (or one half of one thousands of an inch,) and I bore every hole after drilling. I also design and make my own Collets to match the tapers of my Cue designs. My Collets are 3 inches long and solid to ensure accuracy for the Center Pin Alignment.

Email thru ebay or call me at 503 930-7776 M-S 6 am - 5 pm, Thanks, CuesDirectly, Dave

Dave Brainard at Cuesdirectly satisfaction update..

I thought I would share my feelings for one of Dave's cues after I have used it for a few months. There have been no problems with the joint connection nor any of the fancy mother of pearl rings he used in creating my good looking stick.

Dave is always a text away. He always takes time to reply quickly to my questions like wood care and so on. I was getting ready to buy a production cue when I found him.
I doubt I could of contacted the factory and received quick attention from them.
I actually spent a bit LESS for his custom one off beauty then a manufactured one.

Latest update, I had asked Dave about a butt extention when he made my cue. He was not doing them at that time but...he predrilled my butt to accept one in the future. Well the future is here and Dave sent me a new slightly thinner "matching" shaft and 2 extentions last week.

I screwed in the 7"extention and you litterly can not tell that it has been added. Dave's lathe work is FIRST CLASS all the way . Extentions aren't for everyone of course, but for my ape arms, 67" is a perfect match. Again his prices are irresistible and many people can afford his work.

I found this video of Dave's machine..

Do Dave a favor and leave him alone. He doesn't deserve you

My experience with Dave was great. I bought a long cue with 2 shafts and ended up sending the shafts back for a different taper. Turn around time was good and then I received a surprise set of joint protectors. The cue is well built and has a crisp hit. It isn't fancy but It is hard for me to imagine a better cue for the money.

His cues are great! Rolls true straight. His customer service is amazing as well!

Thanks Dave if you are reading this!

Well guys 4 1/2 years later... here is my experience with Dave's cues..

Everyone is going to carbon fiber. I love the smooth slick shaft on my new Cynegery cue. I bought the Dakota package from Cuetec which included Butt.. shaft.. extension.. bow-tie.. shaft cleaning packets..

But.. but.. I have stored the Cynergy back in the bag.. the shaft is great but the butt is grossly out of balance..

Dave cuts his cues and they need no weight.. His cues are perfectly balanced..and..and..they just feel right when I stroke thru those balls..

I have not sold the Cynergy yet.. but I might.. I have retipped the 2 shafts on Dave's cues about 4 times each.. Other then the normal changing tips.. Dave's cues have held up same as new.

So for half the price of a cynergy.. Have Dave make you a one off custom '' weapon '' and go kick butt..

Good timing to revive this thread. I recently did a custom conversion project with David and I’m back 2 mo later working on another one with him for a friend, who just had to have one after seeing/hitting with mine. The definition of simple elegance in engineering/craftsmanship, for humble looking player cues. Top notch in every way imaginable, & super cool guy.
