DAZN shady subscription practices

For those that may be unhappy with DAZN and their practices concerning recurring charges for Live PPV coverage, Accu-Stats Video Productions, along with other billiard streaming productions are leveraging a new billiard live and on-demand delivery system by Digital Pool. Of course being able to provide a service like this for just billiards is difficult. Just to make aware of what Digital Pool offers for a monthly commitment to their PPV & VOD service is live and recorded coverage of multiple if not all tables at an event. Every video is playable instantly after it has been live streamed. Play more than 1 table at once. Select videos directly from live brackets. Digital Pool is successfully creating a complete historicals record of professional events world wide. Check them out. www.digitalpool.com

Be aware for any future events that DAZN will now renew a monthly subscription from the day you cancel, not from the day you subscribed. I ordered a month of DAZN on November 21 to watch the mosconi cup. When I went to cancel my one month subscription on dec 10th they tell me I now owe them a up to Jan 10th. What a bunch of BS. I told them to delete my account, I'll never use them again, and any further charges on my credit card will be reported as fraudulent.

I guess that's what I get for trying to do things the right way. I'm just another AH customer to them. So if you do need to use DAZN on a temporary basis, make sure to cancel IMMEDIATELY after subscribing or you will be charged extra.
It’s called an opt-out continuity billing cycle.

It’s a very tedious way to print money should you legally operate such a trade practice. It’s a legal mine field that can be navigated if the fine print is compliant with local, state and federal laws. (Idk about international law)

Noticed this today when I went to cancel from watching mosconi cup. Very Very shady in my opinion and definitely not normal for any of the other streaming services I subscribe to. I signed up for 30 days, they took my money for 30 days. If I cancel within those 30 days I shouldn't owe any other money or be automatically signed up for additional days that I don't want.

I will never give DAZN another penny of my money. I'll find some other way to watch the Mosconi cup.

I signed up w dazn through my Roku Nov 24th and was charged $20. I cancelled on Dec 11th with no complications. I did have to turn off my VPN for a few days. Almost seamless and I'd join again.

just don't be surprised when you get a bill for another 17 days

As I noted in an earlier post, I waited several days before I canceled my subscription, and was charged an extra $8.38 (because of the 30 day notice policy). BUT, I knew that was going to happen, because I read the terms of the contract, before I "signed on the dotted line".

After 65 years of life, one thing that I have learned, is to always read the fine print.

they changed this policy literally days before I renewed my subscription (i signed up over a year prior when this rule was not in effect). there was no fine print to read and they never notified me of this change prior to re-upping for another month. the first i heard or read of it was when i went to cancel my month 2 weeks later. i put up enough of a stink they canceled the upcharge.

Paypal for the win! Never had to mess with DAZN except to sign up and then watch mosconi via them.

How do I cancel an automatic payment I have with a merchant?

Here is how to cancel an automatic payment with a merchant

  1. Log in to your PayPal account.
  2. Click Profile at the top of the page.
  3. Click My Money then click Update beside My preapproved payments to find your payment.
  4. Select the payment, and then click Cancel.
A subscription can be cancelled up until the day before the next scheduled payment in order for you not to be charged.

you may still get billed. if you try to sign up again they may want you to pay any back charges. you may have to use a different account if you want to watch mosconi next year. personally i'd rather torrent it at this point

I've done this a few times already, unless they change something I am not worried. Even if I have to make a new account, it's worth it not to have to deal with them beyond the signup.

For a group that is supposedly die hard pool fans, I can't believe the amount of hate over paying less than $10 more than you (mistakenly) thought you were going to pay to watch one of the premier events in the sport. Want to know why Pool doesn't get any love from mainstream media like ESPN? Look in the mirror.

i gladly paid the $20 to watch the event. what i didn't appreciate was the flagrant "oh by the way you owe use more than that now" attitude of dazn. but i'm sure you always pay %50 more for something without argument when asked right? 🙄

I pay what is required under the terms I accepted. Their policy is standard fair with almost any subscription service, including the service the company I work for sells. You can't build your business plan and policies tailored for the people that are trying to pay the absolute least possible amount that they can. You are not the type of customer they are trying to recruit.

Exactly. The terms I had accepted changed right from under me, and then they asked for more money. The point of this thread is to warn people that would also be unaware, and un-notified of a change of terms before they also had to pay more than they agreed to.

Recived a Email yesterday from DAZN. There standard monthly fee will rise from $19.99 to $24.99
