DC motors on the Hightower Deluxe lathe

Anyone care to relate their experiences after having converted from the larger AC motor, to the small DC? How is the torque? Reliability? Ease of install? ANy downside? And anyone have a link to the seller of these motors, cannot seem to find one in Rockler anymore. Thanks guys !
 
The Penn motors are a good unit. I have 2 of them. One on my deluxe and one on my Jet Mini lathe. For $100 you can't go wrong.
If you buy the Penn State motor kit, I sell a reversing switch that is plug-n-play.

I have no problems with the DC motor.

There are a few things you must do differently. You can't tap under power and you must core slowly. If you try to hog out the core, the OL will trip on the controller.
