I have been using DC++ to get some pool clips and videos but its getting to be about worthless to me.

Its so slow and then its hard to get the files from the other people. I dont know if they dont allow connections or what but they always seem
to be full.

Any tips on getting it to work better or a better way for the file sharing.
I really wish the files were broke down and place on newsgroups like movies are done. That is easy and very fast.

I am using Stong DC and have wondered if maybe I needed another client.

My connection is good and I download movies fast. Usually takes about 35 minutes or so for a full movie.
With DC++ the same thing could take 4-5 hours at the least.

I use revconnect myself, and I haven't tried strong DC, so maybe this won't be helpful, but here's my little bit.

Are you in active mode? Passive users can't DL from other passive users, so getting active might help. Also, in revconnect, when I use the search tool, the results include the number of slots a user has and the number which are currently available. I can even sort the results by slots available my clicking on "slots" at the top of the screen.

I know there are DC++ experts reading here, so maybe someone else will have more valuable help.

did you try the setting under downloads/ queue/ automatically search for alternative download locations? that has helped me download faster

DC++ is not real fast. You'll generally have to wait a while to just start downloading the files you want. Most people only let 2 users download at once. People only have so much upload speed. I have a 5MB connection but I can only upload at 64K. Even then I can hardly surf the internet because it is so slow.

I've already given up on DC++. when i first found dc++, it was like a gold mine.... almost half the memory on my computer are video clips from DC++. just love the feeling of downloading the clips and then going to bed, and to wake up with 4 or 5 videos waiting to be watched. but alas, after some upgrading blah blah blah.. everything seems to have gone south... so....

anyone know good sites to trade videos? cos i got tons of them...
