Going to the DCC in January for a few days as a spectator. This is my first time and curious of the vendor presence at this event. Worth bringing a few cues to wheel and deal? And when I refer to vendor I mean collectors and non production cues etc.
I have been going for several years. There will be enough for you to find some swappers. I will be bringing a Southwest Satin with 2 shafts myself to see what might be there.Going to the DCC in January for a few days as a spectator. Exactly this. Don't expect to be on the financial winning side of any trades and anything you sell to a vendor will be for less than retail. They're running a business, after all and are paying for their expenses for attending the event. Having said that, you can absolutely make deals. And they're likely to be better towards the end of the tournament than on the first day or two. I was able to trade a Dayton I had straight up for the Nitti I have have now after some friendly back and forth. I had more cash in the Dayton than he was asking for the Nitti, but I liked the Nitti more so I was happy. Coincidentally, I went back a few years later and he still had the Dayton. But I still have the Nitti, too so...Doing the same aside from the spectator part. Have a couple cues I wanna swap or sell. Vendors are pretty tight but not impossible if you have something of value.
I've already put my two cents in about trading and whatnot above. But I just wanted to tell you to enjoy The Derby. It's the center of the pool universe for, like, nine straight days. And while it's nothing like it was back in the Executive West days (there are some wild threads on here about it), it's still pretty awesome. My first time was back in '01 or '02 and I was literally star struck as soon as I walked into the lobby of the hotel. Pretty much every big name in the sport was there just mingling around and I'd only ever seen them in magazines or on Accu-Stats videos.Going to the DCC in January for a few days as a spectator. can you get into the vendor area without a DCC admission? Can I buy a daily admission to DCC at the door, just showing up?? Are the vendor prices OK, or jacked up for the event?? I am looking for a Joss Color of Money cue.....better luck there or just over the internet??
If you're within a reasonable distance to the tournament and like cues and stuff it's worth it just to go. And if you don't see the cue you're looking for don't be afraid to ask. They only have so much room to put out what they have and usually have cues still in cases. Also, even if nobody has the cue you're looking for you might just find something you like even more. An added bonus is you can see, hold, feel, and maybe even hit some balls with it.can you get into the vendor area without a DCC admission?
