Hello, Donald. My friend Paul Potier www.poolschoolinparadise.com uses Kevin De Roo's cues. He was in at christmas and brought about 6 or 8 of them to my house. The highest end cue he had on this trip was about $3500. Absolutely gorgeous, especially the ones he wraps with leather. He had one that had a pigskin wrap - turned on the cue like linen instead of a one piece with a seam. Wow, very nice. They all felt good to play with, as well. Having said all this, I'm not an expert or a collector of cues.Donald A. Purdy said:Do any of you know much about De Roo custom cues from British Columbia, Canada? I got in thru the first link.......I would be interested in feeling one of the " now ya see, now ya don't " things in person. What you think of it Don?
I see that he has made a pie shape laminated shaft. However, I doubt he has hollowed out the end, filled it with foam, or uses a thin walled ferrule. It does not play like a predator shaft either. The workmanship is excellant and the butt extension sure comes in handy on long bridge shots. Overall, I think it is a fine cue. I would hope that you are not allowed to copy a patented joint. I have a great deal of respect for most cuemakers and their functional art. I also like the Layani cues. Since your remarks about De Roo and his shameful tactics is second hand, I will ignore it. I am aware of the hudge egos of most cuemakers firsthand. If you doubt this, get in a room full of them.recoveryjones said:Hi Donald, I'm from Vancouver Canada which is very close to where Kevin Deroo lives.Although I have no idea as to how much your cue is worth, I will say that DeRoo has a reputation around here for doing quality work.Local pro Paul Potier uses his cue. If you are wondering what your cue is worth you can email Kevin at the following website:

Despite his good cuemanship Kevin DeRoo is not well liked by my cue repairman who is also a Layani dealer. Kevin has made his version of the Patended Predator shaft and also is apparently going to experiment with copying the patended Layani joint. My cue repairman thinks Kevin's copycat antics are somewhat shameful on his part.
PTM, it sure is nice to have on those long bridge shots. As far as feel, I didn't know it had it until after I got it. No differance at all. I really like the cue.pooltablemech said:I can't even get the site up??? Maybe I clicked it wrong......I try again!

Thank you for your reply. Don P.![]()
Cue looks and plays great. The butt extension is handy. No rattle or noise. The 10 diamonds set it off. The ol'lady calls it the Bat Masterson Cue. She always names my stuff. I had the Ol'Yeller Cue that Juston is going to put in the gallery soon. Talked to De Roo yesterday. Cue sold for $2,000 US 1/12 years ago. Doesn't even looked played. He made two.NOSAJ03 said:well on a lighter note Don..... how does the thing play. I like the way that snakewood looks but dont know how it plays. I dont know anyone that has snakewood in there cues. I think im going to try and incorporate it in my next cue.
No offence taken my friend. The shaft is a 9 piece pie. Standard on his cues. He sent me a picture of a joint he used on his break cues. Is this the joint you are talking about? He says he does it for strength. It is one pretty, well put together cue.recoveryjones said:Hi Donald, I respect your reaction to a second hand comment about a cue maker.Although I heard it first hand, I regret posting it and wish I hadn't. I really hope you enjoy your new cue because I know Kevin does quality work.
