Deluxe Cuesmith Motor install

I believe my Deluxe Cuesmith motor is about to expire.....I hope I can make it last just a couple more weeks!! Nonetheless, I found an identical motor and figure it would not be that difficult to install. My question for those of you who have the deluxe Hightower or an opinion on such matters is: Should I think about upgrading to a different motor? I’m slowly grasping this pool cue converting venture and just want to make sure that the decisions I make today don’t cause regret tomorrow. Any suggestions, comments or positive input is greatly appreciated.

Evidently, the motor presently installed must have been a good one as it still has the sticker from when Chris Hightower was in Missouri. It seems to be making a popping noise. I maintained it by keeping it clean and periodically oiled the bearings. I believe it to be close to 20 years old and it has served me well.

Cheers

I converted mine a long time ago to a DC voltage motor with a speed control, and a reversing switch. You can get a strong DC motor from a treadmill that someone is throwing out, just need the speed controller. This shows my buffing station using the treadmill motor, and I used the actual console from the treadmill with their speed controller to run it. The motor is rated at about 2-1/2 hp.... very strong. I can't find any pics of my deluxe right now, I'll look later.

Get a 3/4 hp Consew Servo motor. I have 2 and I really like the last one I bought. PM me your email address and I’ll send pics.
