Denali break cues

Is PH a particularly dense wood or tight grain? Why is it preferred for the shaft? How does it feel compared to other popular shafts?

I'm also not a big fan of PH. I just hate the way it looks, but I'm a practical man who would rather use what works best and let looks come in second place.

PH is a dense and stable wood. It does not have a particularly tight grain
such as maple. However, the grain structure is such as that it springs the
cue ball off of it. Something like a diver off a spring board or a baseball off an aluminum bat.

Bob,

Other than PH, is there another wood that works well with ebony for the break cue...?

I'd like to get one, but I'm having a hard time with the PH.

I'm just not a big fan.

Thanks.

Same here not a big fan of the PH... but love the look of the cue in some other wood

Saturday bump. Here is an e-mail I received this morning from Belgium regarding one of my breakers.

Priority: Normal Date: Saturday, September 10, 2011 2:47 AM Size: 21 KB

Hello Bob ,

got the cue yesterday and the cue looks fantastic .
In the evening i gave it a try and i can say i was impressed .
Hits way better then my BK2 and the cueball control is excellent .
If i knew 7 months earlier i would have bought also a playing cue from you
but back then i ordered
a Keith Josey that is coming my way in about two weeks time .
But maybe in the future who knows ?????

Thanks for a great breaker ,

Christoph

Another comment by a happy Denali Breaker owner:

I just spent an hour of nothing but breaking 8 and 9 ball racks (That will tire you out real quick!) This cue hits like a ton! As you said, everyone knows it in the room when you break, which is what I like ...Thank you for a beautiful and powerfull cue! The abalone inlay in the joint pin is a nice touch btw...Glad I got it before I go to Vegas, the one I was using before could not do what this cue does.

Best Regards,

"I took the cue to my local pool room last night and played for about 2 hours. I really wanted to see how it worked and see what I thought about it.
After giving it a good 20 Breaks or so, In my honest opinion I can say that your cue is the Best Break cue I have ever tried or used as my own.
After getting used to the feel and proper cue ball placement, I was making 3-4 balls almost ever rack. The Trangle tip as we had discussed seems perfect as the cue ball stays in control.
I thought I would be happy with the cue but to be honest the cue really surpassed what I had expected....You make a Great cue."

Another HUMP day bump:cool::cool::cool:

Check out the PH shaft wood that I recently started cutting up. Perfectly
straight grained and quarter sawn. It doesn't get any better than this for
shaft wood for break cues.

Nice looking cues. What would be the weight and balance point with PH shaft or oak shaft ?

Hi: Whatever weight and balance point you want is built INTO your cue.
However, once it is set it is permanent. Hope this helps.
