Good afternoon guys! Is anyone real familiar with Dennis's cases? I have a few real old 2x4's but I just purchased another that looks way newer.

The quality seems questionable and I do notice a few differences between my older cases and this one. The leather feels thinner, the top and bottom plates (wood inserts) look glued to the leather and not tacked on, etc.

Would anyone be able to give me their opinion? I would appreciate any info I can get. Pictures are posted in the thread below thanks to Chili Palmer.

Send some photos of your case right to the man who would know best - Dennis Swift. I’m sure he’ll be able to tell you immediately, and if it is a fake using his name brand, I’m sure he’d like to know who is selling them.

Usually this happens because the photos are too large, either in size or bytes. Shrink them to 50% of their normal size (even Windows paint can do that in a few seconds) and then try uploading them again.

Use a lossful file type if the pictures are too large of a file-size like JPEG, JPG, or PNG. Lossless filetypes like BMP make the pictures too big.

ChrisinNC, I have done so about a month ago. No response as of yet. I will definitely try again!

He usually puts rivets next to the stitching that holds the pockets on and the inside is usually lined. I have seen that stamp before though.

It looks like a Swift to me. Case makers change leather sometimes. Jack Justis used to use thin leather, then went to thicker stock. Thicker leathers are more durable and if someone makes cases long enough, they learn from their repairs. I just can't imagine someone hand tooling a fake Swift case. The fakes cases I've see have been machine stamped production jobs.

I have seen a stamp like that on a few cases I came across but they did not have DS stamped in them and I cannot remember what it read.

Ok guys! I finally remembered how to upload photos..... I did find this one that sold about six months back, it's a 3x6 with green interior but the construction is exactly the same as mine.

Now the stamp on the bottom says DRS Originals with a letter and Roman numerals on either side. Is that a newer stamp from Dennis? The construction of the rest of my cases are exactly the same, logo is the plain hammer stamp with nothing else but these two seem to be oddballs to me.

Maybe somebody can recognize that DRS stamp, construction wise they look to be built about the same time just after he switched stamps? Thanks again everyone!!

Tate, that is my case I am selling right now! I got to comparing this one to my other cases today and I wanted to make sure this thing was legit before it gets sold to somebody else unknowingly being wrong.

This is probably why I'm not a detective!
