Dents in shaft collar?

Hi,
I was taking down two shafts and used some soft rubber around the collar before putting the shaft into the lathe. After taking the shafts down I noticed I had damaged the finish. There are two dings in each shaft collars. I will not be using this method again. I will use the lathe pins.
My question is; What is the best way to repair the finish?

Jon,
If the damage won't polish-out then the shaft(s) will need to be refinished.
A nylon/Delrin collet may have prevented this.
