i have had a pool table for about 6 mths now, however I am starting to get slight dents on the table where the balls are
racked...

Is the Slate starting to dent or is it the cloth...? I'm using Simon's 860.

Can anything be done...
Do i have to break lighter?

thanks for the replies,

I doubt it is the slate, but it is possible if someone hit down hard enough on it with something? Slate is very hard and dense, but brittle, also, comparatively to other stones. Not likely to dent it, more likely to chip it, if anything. Cloth might be compressed, if there are minor low spots. Take cloth off and see what is going on.....

when i rack, I pound in the balls hammering in each ball in place with the cue ball so each ball is froze to the next one

I know all the pool hall owners are cringing now ;):D

It seems that if I wash the cloth the dents in the cloth seem to lessen.

Why, does the cloth shrink or something?

What kind of problem does this cause for you when shooting a slow roller through the racking area?

I know that at most rooms that don't discourage this practice (mostly at the hands of those ball-bangers that don't know any better) the balls roll funny through the divots created by the pounding, resulting in the object ball rolling off the intended line.

Ken (hates ball-bangers)
