Of those attending, anyone feel like you are hitting yourself in the head with a hammer? Is it worth your time? Money? DCC @ EW was a great time, and its demise was a terrible loss to the pool world. Events are supposed to get better with time . . .
Derby City, so few pros...Title of thread: "Derby city so few Pros"
Once they left the EW, I had grave doubts -- it just seemed that my extravagant investments of time and money were not going to reap near the measure of benefit as they had in the past. So I stayed home. Then, when I read the comments describing the debacle a relocated DCC became, all doubt was removed, and I became convinced that the DCC, as I knew and loved, was now, very like a dead cock in the pit -- all the fire and fury having been consumed as the dust settles. My fond memories of DCC at EW, however, remained intact, and I have gone on in hopes that one day reason would prevail and the DCC would relocate and improve. After 20+ Derby's I bailed — they’ve just wore me out.
It stopped being fun a long time ago. Bad scheduling, too many players and not enough tables, lousy hotel, no food, goofy rules.

Solution is simple, just bring DCC to the South, like anywhere in FL. Never run into bad weather, plenty of good venues and food optionsThe Hotel/Casino/Diamond all know exactly what to expect during this tournament year after year…no surprises at all…yet they continue to shit on the customers in every way possible.
Why people continue to support being shit on is unbelievable.
And the staff that works the event all live driving distance away. The venue at that time of year almost certainly gives them an incredible deal considering it would be a ghost town without the pool players.Solution is simple, just bring DCC to the South, like anywhere in FL. I guess reason why they keep it up there is because Diamond headquarter is close to IN so they save big $ on table shipping![]()
The payouts are trash because $0 and I mean absolutely $0 of the buy backs goes to the tournament prize pool. That money goes to master of the table payouts(the rest Diamond keeps) which only maybe 12 guys can possibly get a piece of and truly only 3-5 guys can win the top prize generally speaking. There's maybe what 550-650 or so unique players each year, I imagine at least half the field in each event does the buy back if not more? I'd rather just hand Fedor/Filler/Shane $25/30 each it's easier on everyone that way!
