Design for new Skip Weston...

Well, I was bored this evening so I was playing around with recreating the design for my upcoming cue from Skip in living color and thought I'd share what I came up with. I just used MS Paint and Adobe Photoshop as well as the wood grain from various cues I've either owned or have on order.

Edit: See the actual cue below.

I don't know, it looks fine to me. I guess as they say different strokes for different folks! However, that green that you used is definitely unreadable.

I edited the color a little and it looks a little closer now...lol. The inlays are at least close in shape and size! :)

Hey, the real cool thing is that even with all the goop still on it you can see the snakewood in the sub-points. Which is a real cool effect BTW.

Well my point is Snakewood, and Cocobolo together looks like a Guy with Striped Pants, and a Plaid Jacket. BARF......

Well, it's a good thing you're not paying for it then, huh? I happen to like contrasting woods and, damn it, if I want to wear a pair of striped pants with a plaid jacket I will damn well do it!

Perhaps the reason you'e twitching and whatnot is because the the cocobolo and snakewood windows clash so badly that it's an assault to your senses and they are overloaded?!

Not nice Bruce  . The guy is probably paying good money for something he likes and is willing to share it with us. Giving a thumbs down is in poor taste if you ask me, although opinions are like assholes.

Well the guy asked for Opinion on a Design that he was thing of. I personally gave an Honest Opinion that the Snakewood & the Cocobolo seem to CLASH in my Opinion. Both woods are in the Same Range of Color. Think you would have a More Dramatic effect with wood in Different Color Ranges. The combination of Wood is like using Two Reds or Browns that are close in Color. I see no Veneers, Wired, or Ivory Separating the Cocobolo which could possibly make each our the wood stand out. Funny thing is I gave an honest Opinion on a Proposed Design. Opinions were asked for, so that is what I gave.

I can appreciate your opinion, as I said in my reply to your first post, different strokes for different folks! That being said, I didn't ask for opinions...lol. I was sharing the design that I already have in the works, however, opinions are always appreciated.

I like dark woods blended together as well as contrasting grain patterns. The cue may not be the most beautiful cue in the world and perhaps I could have made a better choice to go with the snakewood, however, as I said I like the cue and am sure I will be very happy with the final product.

Thank you for your opinion, even though you expressed it without any tact...lol.

Well if you look at you AVATAR or PHOTO by your Name of the SouthWest Type Cue Butt it is Two Dark Woods, but there a LIGHT COLORED BAND Separating the Dark from Dark allowing both woods to Stand out.

Also the pictures of the Proposed Cue appear to be in Rough Stage of Construction, and until the Final Finish & Wax is applied only the Builder Knows for Sure the Colors of the woods that will be seen.

Like you said you like Dark Wood, and I like Light to Dark Contrasting Woods.

skip makes some of the best cues around. what kind of wrap are you having put on? he does great ringed lizard wraps.

On this one I'm going with black leather, although I've been fighting myself here lately about upgrading to lizard like on my other Skip. I feel like a politician, can't make up my mind...lol.

a chesnut colored lizard wrap would look very nice on that cue. it would go very well with the woods used IMO. either way its a skip and itll look and play great.
