Well i have played for many years now but i keep finding myself quiting then starting back. I haved played good pool but i know i could play alot better. I just wanted to know how do you guys/gals keep your desire/hunger for the game?

Watch local players that are better than me makes me want to practice to become as good or better than them. Or I always want to shoot more after a big pool tournament.

When your like me and all you ever think about is pool, you'll tend to keep on playing.

In fact, i can't remember a time when i didn't want to play pool. If i can go and i have the money, i would go in a heartbeat. In fact, i even have a hard time trying to find others to go shoot with me. I just end up shooting pool by myself for a few hours.

Try thinking of pool as your main form of entertainment. When you have nothing to do, go play pool! Eventually, it'll just become a part of who you are. Of course, if you have no social life (like me), then sticking to pool is just that much easier.

I usually get bored right before a period of improvement. Usually once my game jumps a step I get fired up and play more than ever. If I take a break, I find that I get back into it because it is easier to see progress when I am getting in stroke.

I have been like that since january but once i go back to school this january this pool playing will be taken back alot

It's easy for me... I'm obsessive compulsive! You know... like the people who wash their hands 50 times a day! Well, I'm the same way about pool. I can't go anywhere without playing pool or at least getting on a table and hitting balls. My GF and I go out to dinner, I throw my cue case in the trunk. We go to my Dr's office (90 miles from here), I throw my cue case in the trunk. I even took my cue case on a fishing vacation this past summer. Found a local bar down the road from the beach house and played pool at night with the locals. I'll take it along again next June... even though the bar got flooded during hurricane Rita, rumour has it they'll have a new table soon and be up and running long before I get back to fish again. For some people, pool is a recreational venture. For me it's just part of life. It's what I do. Don't get me wrong, I can play recreational pool. I'll play for fun, for money or for pride. I do set limits. I'll only play if I'm awake and it's either daylight or dark!

Later,
Bob
