I hear the weather is getting bad down there, so be careful on the roads. My friend in Dallas (Mike Haines) said he was staying home today because of the weather.xidica said:

I was on the roads at least 2 hours today and no problems. It stopped snowing, the trucks already sanded/salted. No problems.

The weather didn't turn out to be half as bad as I was expecting. I didn't think I'd make it to my local pool hall's weekly 9 ball tourney though because my wife was asked to work the night shift. Turns out they didn't need her so I got to go after all!!
I played some seriously horrible pool tonight & yet came within one game of making it into the money! Sometimes pool just doesn't make much sense!

Played there again tonight & I will admit I sucked. Dumped out 1st round when I had chances to win, in the loser's brackets the 1st guy I played told me it'd probably be the easiest match I've ever played. Well, I broke & ran the 1st one then struggled to finish it! Lost my next game 3-2.
I did enjoy watching some of the games though. A good turn out this week with some very good players. I'm wondering if anyone here knows anything about one of the guys who is a regular there. His name is Erman, I heard tonight he did well in the US Open back in the 70's & now teaches. He sure gave me a lesson last week!
One other thing, there was one guy there tonight who was more than a little loud. He got whupped fast but went on to give a commentary on whoever he was near. I made the mistake of saying something to him & he latched onto me like a leech. Not so bad to start with, just talking pool. After 5 minutes he's asking me if I had any weed! Easy answer, sorry I don't do that. Couple more minutes he turns to me & asks "Do you like to f*#k?" That really got my attention. "Excuse me?"
I hold up my hand & say "See that wedding ring? I'm married." He looks totally lost now. "So what?" Now I'm shaking my head. I told him "I happen to be married & love my wife. I DO NOT mess around. I think it's time you changed the subject."
He looked at me like I was from another planet, then told me he'd never been married so didn't know what it was like. What a bloody shock that was! I moved away to watch another game before he pissed me off too much! I saw him by the bar a little later spinning some b/s but I think by then everyone was just playing with him. Even the guy who runs the place thought it was about time he left.
Been a long time since I bumped into that kind of jerk!

I hate dealing with idots like that. No one should have to put up with it. Owners allowing jerks like that to out stay their welcome, will hurt their turn out over time. Hopefully, they will not let him back in there, or at least keep him under wraps. It is a tough thing for owners to contend with, but it needs to be done.

I don't think he'll be back for awhile. He told me he was from North Carolina & was just here for a few days. On the whole I think most of the regulars were kind of amused by him, just a harmless idiot, albeit a loud one!
It's funny, I didn't play so good last night but I did enjoy my night out. Seems like I'm getting to know more of the players there & they're a pretty good crowd. Hell, I even hung around to see how the guy who beat me did in the later rounds. 2 weeks in a row we've played each other & seems we've both enjoyed our games.
Damn, feels like yet another reason to make me want to play more & more!
