Diamond bar box

Does anyone know why Diamond 7 fters, Blue Label is all I’m familiar with, slate measurements are at least three different sizes when measured diagonally. This occurs on tables all made within the last 2-4 yrs. The pocket (shelf) is so deep on some that when a ball is in the very jaws it can not be made fairly (no going to the rail first without hitting opposite point on the way out). And no hitting ball first without a draw shot, which can’t be done on some angles. Seems like it prevents play as pool was designed. If you haven’t measured this way you should.

A table mechanic was just looking at our Diamond 7' Pro-cut and was commentating on the shelf depth being shallower than what was on his 7'. He also said he has seen other 7's even shallower. So there is some variance even on 7' Pro-cuts.
according to chad at D they tried various sd's on the 7's before settling on whatever it is now.

On most 9' blue labels you can hide a ball in the Jaws of the pocket. Are you missing the point of procut pocket and the deep shelf? It makes the game HARDER. I think you may have missed that part somewhere. Welcome to modern pool! :)

It has been working really well too. I just finished watching a semi-final match on ESPN, and later I'm off to the pub to play in a well-attended league. /s

Did you happen to catch what it is in inches? I’m curious to know the typical shelf depth on Diamond Pro Cut tables. I keep meaning to measure, but not many Diamonds near me.

Not that it matters much but shelf depth is one of the most cheezy items of WPA’s “specs”; for some reason they allow a huge range; anywhere from 1 to 2-1/4”. Oddly enough BCA specs are much tighter, 1-5/8” to 1-7/8”…
You would have to go up to California Billiards to play on 7’ Diamond bar boxes. As far as I know, there are none in the South Bay.

All of those tables are less than 5 years old. Not sure if they have any 9 footers.

Thx. Guess you don’t get out much lately? CalB replaced nearly all their GCs with Diamond ProAm pro cuts a few years ago and has maybe 10+ Diamond 7’ barboxes. The Courts & Hour bars in south SJ each have Diamond 7’ smart barboxes. Starting to see more pop up in bars but thats about it for entire SF Bay Area that I know of at the moment. Fortunately/unfortunately I get around… 😂 Ping me if you ever want to hit some. ✌️

Yes, I have not been up to California Billiards since the last pro event before Covid.

Courts? Used to play there quite often before Covid. Been told that it was remodeled. The tables they had were pretty beat up; nice to hear they upgraded.

The Hour Bar? Wasn’t that place Star Wars themed in its previous life with a different name? Just checked Yelp and I see it’s near the poodle.

I am 10 minutes from both those bars. Live in Willow Glen. Hence the WG.

Thanks much for the information. Once I have hit a few and dust off my stroke, I will take you up on your offer.
