After attending the Tiger Tour this weekend, I just wanted to give a shout out for this pool hall. Brandon and I were talking on the ride home and we were trying to decide why we had such a great time at the tournament and Brandon summed it up by saying, "they did everything right". A weekly friday night tournament ($200 added) with a HUGE big rack ($1,000 added, I broke dry for $190 a ball, ARGGG), Tiger Tour event all weekend ($2,000 added), a $200 buy in ring game on Saturday night that included John Schmidt, and a "we close at 2am unless you're in action" policy. They also agreed to change their normal policy and have the pool hall non-smoking for the Tiger Tour event. The manager, Chris Adams, did a great job and everyone had a great time. I didn't get the chance to meet the owner but he is certainly committed to investing in the business. If you get the chance to stop in, you'll have a good time. Thanks to everyone on the staff and the local players who helped make this such a nice event.

i second that as i thought the worker bees at the place were great, not to mention the locals were friendly - no complaining of being up early on the weekend and super nice in general. this was a great stop and i for one hope to see another event there in the future.

Diamonds is a great room. Randyg and I will be teaching a 3-day pool school there in just over two weeks! I'll also be teaching some private lessons there, around the same time! It looks like a great room to teach, as well as play in!

Yeah, they have some tables that play similar to Gold Crowns but the rails are a little springy. I think they're negotiating a deal to buy some Diamond tables after the US Open.

Back at Diamond...

We did go ahead and book another date at Diamond, They will be hosting the Post US Open event! Unfortunately 9balllvr - this will be an Open Division only, they are putting up $2500 added for the Open Division, plus we'll be doing a calcutta (10% goes to a charity of the room's choice). They will be doing specials for the Friday night mini-tournament, and another ring game Saturday night will be in order!!!
We're really excited as we really loved that room as well, and I can't tell you how much I loved being back in Richmond. Always a great place to hold a tournament - so many true pool lovers in that town.

What a lot of players didn't realize is that Virginia Governor Gilmore was in attendance on Sunday at the event...it was kept pretty quiet, but that was pretty cool.
