Diamond or Rasson?

Because of Coronavirus, I still have not had the opportunity to play on a Rasson table, but I'm hearing nothing but good things about them.

It seems Diamond dominated the US market for years and now they have a serious competitor who appears to be out-marketing them.

For anyone who has played on both.... what are your thoughts?.... And for those who know the prices.... which is a better value?

Are you sure you’re not mixing up Kasson with Rasson? Kasson, if they are still being made, are not in the same quality ballpark as either Rasson or Diamond.

It would be nice to get some honest feedback from pros who have played Matchroom sponsored tournaments on the Rasson tables, but for sure you can never go wrong with a Diamond!

Diamond pockets, with deeper shelves play tougher than Rasson..Both are a well built, sturdy table.

Would be tough for Rasson to compete or surpass Diamond now. Not a lot of room owners looking to buy new tables. There will be a glut of used Diamonds due to room closures.

Have they dominated the US market though? Sure in the higher profile tourneys, but I would bet there are exponentially more $2000 dollar oldhausen furniture tables out there, or cheaper Sears type tables than $4000 diamonds. Same goes for valleys.

Yeah - my bad.

From what I understand, Rasson is big in Europe while Diamond is big here in the states. I have briefly played on a Rasson I was ok with it. It wasn't enough to tell a huge difference between diamond. I think people would be pleased with either one.

Just a guess here but I would say that Diamond definitely has the market and demand here in the USA. However, I do believe that Rasson has more of the global market excluding the USA.

I've never played on a Rasson.
I've played on Brunswicks, Diamonds, Valleys, and a bunch of not so big named tables. I like Brunswicks the best.

I wonder what the bending moment/stress limit of Rasson Aluminum vs the epoxy impregnated beams Diamond uses?

Aluminum is also susceptible to galvanic, inter granular, and dissimilar corrosion.

The Diamond table with diamond wood/dymalux will probably still be around 500 years from now.
