Diamond pocket sizes?

Anyone know what Diamond sets the side pocket size at with 4.25" corners? Or what it is with 4.5" corners as well?

Thanks

I'm pretty sure it is 5" unless you specify otherwise.

Edit: Post your inquiry in the mechanic's section for a quicker, more definitive answer.

Diamond got back to me. and here is the answer

4.5" corners - 5" sides
4.25" corners - 4.75" sides
4.125" corners - 4.75" sides

Yes, that is because any side pocket tighter than 4.75” is just so tight that it completely changes the game.

I asked them. Waiting on reply.
I hope they give you more info than they gave me. They just basically told me to wait till their dealers get them and they would have the info I wanted.

I asked about what material the legs, apron and top was made and got no answer. They did answer if they would be available in 1 piece slate like they have mentioned at the US pro billiards series but apparently they won't be, they will only be available in 3 piece 25mm slate.

3pc slate gives more install flexibilty. No big issue imo. Also since tables are made in Spain shipping would be easier as well. Makes sense to go with 3pc.

I understand that but I kind of prefer 1 piece. The other thing is it is 5mm thinner than Diamond 3 piece and slightly thinner than diamond 1 piece.

I also figured they would offer 1 piece after the commentators and Darren Appleton made such a big deal about them being 1 piece slate at the Wisconsin Apex . Appleton said the 3 piece slate and pocket angles/shelf were his biggest complaints about last year's Predator tables that they changed for this year.

don't sweat 5mm. makes no difference. 1" has been standard for a gillion yrs. Don't need 30mm thick slate. if installed right you can't tell one from 3pc.

What is funny? I ask them stuff all the time and they reply quicker than any other co. in pool. Doubt they answer on the weekend.
They were about a day getting back to me which isn't bad at all. It just seemed they didn't want to or didn't know how to answer part of my question about the construction materials. The reason I asked that question is ,I'm not fond of MDF or particle board.

Diamond has also been fast answering question and told me exactly what materials were used and where.

Now Predator does have alot more different products to keep track of and this is a new product.

I tend to ask for details as it's not something I can go see in person. Your not going to find a Diamond or Predator table unless privately owned somewhere within a 8 to 10 hour drive.

Pred is a SAM KSteel basically. Pic of a SAM guts: https://gclbilliards.com/sam-k-steel-set-up-of-american-9ft-pool-table/ Rails on KSteels are solid oak so i'd guess the Pred is the same.

I wonder why Predator went 4.5" on the side pocket?
I’m guessing it’s because they don’t know any better. All they need to do is ask professional players or professional table mechanics.

They will all confirm what I’ve said previously - for side pockets, anything tighter than 4-3/4 or 4-5/8 at the absolute tightest completely changes the way the game is played.

Just get in touch with Oscar Dominguez. He has one at his pool hall that his dad put together. It was from the Vegas tournament.

He owns Hard Times Sacramento and Golden State Billiard Supply. He will sell the tables.

If you are worried about the slate thickness, 25 mm vs 30 mm, I wouldn't worry about it much. My Diamond professional came with 25 mm, and not the 30mm as stated on their web site, plays fine. When I questioned them after about the slate thickness not matching up with what their Web site said, they said sorry, and that was it. Also questioned them as to why the rails were 3 bolt instead of 4 as the web site stated, same response, sorry. Regardless as to whether it makes a difference in the play of the table, those were two items that influenced my decision on the purchase of a Diamond table. I will say that the side rails are massive and one piece, unlike the 2 piece Brunswick home table I had before, and don't see any need for 4 bolts per section. Last I checked, their web site still said 4 bolts and 30 mm slate, may have changed it by now, it's been 2 years. Just looked, web still says 30 mm for 3 piece, mines 25 mm, from what I understand 30 mm is only on 9', mines a 8'. Website is quite misleading and you would think could have been changed in 2 years time, like they said it would.
