Diamond Pro VS Gold Crown

I was talking to a buddy of mine about table repair and he said that he likes diamond tables but from a mechanic stand point they a a pain in the A##, compared to a gold crown.
If he owned a room that would be one detractor for having diamond tables.
Are they more labor intensive?
Do other mechanics feel the same way ?

Without a doubt the Gold Crown is much easier to work on. The Diamond's are great tables but are much more labor intensive to maintain. If I had a room I would have Gold Crown's with maybe one or two Diamonds.

I hate working on Diamonds...LOL and that's just about all I ever get to work on. When I finally get something else to work on, like a bar table, a GC...okay...ANYTHING else...its like...OH BOY, OH BOY...yeah...a break...LOL...but I still wouldn't own anything else to pIay on. I will let you in on a little secret though...I talked to Chad today, and he assured me that I'd like the changes they're making in the new Diamond 9 foot Professional. I deliver most of the Diamond pool tables in the western half of the US for them, including the Diamond 9ft ProAm's already put together...over 1200lbs as well as everthing else...LOL The Professionals are now going to be offered with the one piece full size slate for home table installation where it can be installed...what a break! I'd rather set up a one piece slate any day of the week before I set up a 3 piece slate...no seams!!!!!!!!

One piece slate tables are only as good as the wooden frames they are put on. Show me any 3 piece slate table that does not have ANY sway back or fade and I will kiss your ass on fountain square @ noon. With that being said... how can you cure fade/swayback on a almighty one piece of crap?

Correction

Amendment..... I don't by any stretch think that Diamond tables are crap, I am not in favor of a one pce slate table

Pucker up buddy! Do you know why my ass is white? So you can find it in the dark to kiss it! On this one...you are dead wrong! You've never worked on a Diamond ProAm...and yet you run your mouth.

Here's some food for thought for you...I OWN THE VERY FIRST DIAMOND 9FT SMART TABLE EVER BUILT...IT HAS A 3 PIECE 30MM SLATE IN IT.....NOW ASK YOURSELF....WHY WOULD I...OWN THE VERY FIRST DIAMOND 9FT 3 PIECE SLATE COIN-OPERATED EVER BUILD BY DIAMOND?

For your information...there is more ability to level a 1 piece slate in a Diamond table than there is in any other table built on earth. Not only can you make sure the table is NOT sway back...if you wanted...hell...you could make it crowned from end to end...but...I just like them dead level....like I said....you've never even worked on a Diamond ProAm!

I don't like lipstick on my ass, so wipe them lips clean first! I'll be in Ohio next month picking up 5 Diamond 9ft pro ams from a bankrupt pool room...I'll collect when I get there!

The Cobra!

???

Answer... as you told me you were a part of the designing of the table. When I met Greg at a BCA trade show I didn't much care for him. Look I will NEVER discredit you or Greg for your accomplishments. I think you both have done OUTSTANDING things for Diamond and the sport. My observation is this... you come on here recently and start blasting the crap out of everybody else's posts. I acknowledge that you have MANY more years of experience than I do. Experience is second to none. Why would a person come on here and tell everybody how wrong they are instead of maybe trying to shed some light in a REASONABLE manor?

maybe he is just tired of people, trying to talk about things, they have no business talking about:confused:

Did you know not even MOST of the people on the planet OWN a Diamond much less play one one?

sounds like you were trying to blast his post

Here's a little analogy of mine. If I were looking to place a bet for a $100.00 that I was guaranteed to win...I'd look to get 6 billiards technicians in a pool room all at one time...then bet them all that I could put Simonis cloth on tighter with Scotch grip neutral 10 glue than they could using their staple gun, and that I would only have to staple the pockets while they had to staple the whole rest of the table.

I'd walk out with the $600 dollars and they'd go right back to recovering tables they way they always did....completly oblivious to the fact that I just showed them a much better way to recover slates. And for repeat recoveries...they wouldn't have nearly as many staples to pull out as they normally would...if they even pulled them out at all. AND...a way to recover backed slates that the backer board is stapled so much that it won't hold staples anymore...and now they want the pool room owner to pay them to change the backer boards on the slates...so that they can go back to stapling them out again. Maybe I just have problem seeing the same thing everywhere I go in the whole USA...doesn't matter where! Hmmm...maybe I'm just having a bad day to...maybe!

But then again, maybe the only way to teach billiards technicians anything...is to publicly challenge them first...to get their attention!

PS. How many replied to my first test question? "The only thing bad about doing something wrong, is the wrong of not asking how to do it right!"
