"Diamondized" GC III

Beautiful workmanship. Stunning table. Thanks for posting the pics. Always a treat to see your talent in action.

How did it play when you where finished? Is the diamond cushion the right shape and height? (just curious if you had to change something else to make the cushion work) What was the pocket finished width?
Last but not least send me a quote for fixing the cushions on 30 GC IIIs.

Thanks Mike,
The Diamond K55 cushions fit fine on a GCIII, no extra modification needed.

I was able to play a few games on the table when I was finished and it plays great. New Diamond cushions + a super tight 860 HR install = a fast track!

The corners were spec'd out at 4.5" and the sides were 5", combined with 141* corners and 102* sides. Those dimensions create a nice pocket opening... not too tight, not too loose.
 
Great job, Jack. Do you have any idea what it would cost to do this to an old Gandy Big G? I know there are some good table mechanics in the Atlanta area who could probably do this for me. I think you are a little far away from East Central Alabama.

Pretty to watch the slideshow and to see the workmanship involved in the conversion.

Probably a dumb question, but with that level of attention to detail, does the type and/or amount of glue used affect your measurements?

Yes unfortunately Alabama is out of my jurisdiction :(

I would hate to guess what it would cost without a detailed list of all the parts and services you need.

You should get in touch with Mark Gregory (perfectpocketz) for that kind of work... he would do an excellent job for you :yeah:

To answer your question.... no
The glue is applied in a thin layer and doesn't change any dimensions.
 
Did the customer have a "Bronze" GC but put different corners (pocket castings) on it?

I am also curious as to how much trouble it is to get those same castings to lay down flat and even with the top of the rails?

The castings were the originals... he had them powder-coated and they turned out great!

They don't exactly match up even with the rails, there is a slight bump but nothing too bad.
 
That table looks familiar!

Jack did a great job on my table and it plays fantastic! I couldn't be any happier with how it turned out :thumbup: The pics really don't do the table any justice. With the maple bronze powder coat that I had and the blue cloth, the table really looks amazing.

Jack is a great person to deal with. Hopefully he didn't get to annoyed with me watching and asking him questions basically they whole time he was putting the table up. :D
