I like this cue. I think the cue is nice. The points could be fuller. but I think it is like saying that a Joe Gay is worth $2000. If you know who that is you win a gold star.

Dick Romaine Cue
This is a very,very nice cue. I know the seller personally and can tell you that Romaine made just a handful of these wonderful players. It's built like a tank and plays superb!
I have some pics of the cue before it was restored by Pete and it was in nice shape.
The whereabouts' of Mr Romaine is a mystery. I tried to locate him a while back to ask him about the cue, but to no avail.
I will tell you that the cue is definately worth his asking price and I'm sure Pete will tell you the same.

I appreciate the info Ralph. I like the fact that Pete says that this is a good cue and is worth the money but I just feel that this is someone that is only known on a local level and is comparable to any local cue maker that made cues for good players in their area. what set Dick apart from these other local yocals. Did he spend anytime working with Pete or someone else? Ralph is this a 4 point or possibly a 3 point? I tell you if the points were more typical..closer together I would jump on this cue immediately.

The cue is a 4 point Hoppe style. John, I believe you are right about the local cuemaker thing and a relatively "unknown" in the billiards industry. I don't know the story behind how he apprenticed or who taught him. I think Pete knows a lot more about him. Also I know that Mike Miller (Michael Morgan Cues) knew Romaine as well.
I never heard of the guy till I moved to Long Island but a few of the old timers' around here talk about him.
It's hard to put a value on a cue like this because of the lack of information available and certainly lack of production of other cues that he made. Too bad he didn't make more cause he really showed talent.
