Did the Gandy Big G have a smaller sibling?

There's a used Gandy pool table for sale, that has a striking resemblance to a Black Gandy Big G, but the seller says it's an 8' table and has a ping pong top. Says 1" slate. Did the Gandy Big G have a smaller sibling that had a ping pong top? And if so, is it as equally solid and good as the Big G? I'm wondering if maybe it's a residential table rather than commercial and perhaps not as well built. Also, do you know the name of the model? See pic. Thanks!

Looks like a Big G.
I play on a 9‘ Big G. It’s nice, but not as nice as a Gold Crown.
How much is he asking for that little Big G ?

After delivery and setup and some 860, I'll be about 2k all in. Seems to be the going rate for the Big G's as well. For a GC 3 I could go all in for 3.2k or 4.2k for a GC 4. I know they're better but I haven't been able to locate a black one in decent shape that goes for less than 5.5k, and my room really wants a black table. So, I figure I'll save some cash and just get a Gandy. I'd be better off with an 8' table for the room (but can get away with a 9'), which is why this one caught my eye, but I don't want it if it's not as good as the Big G (unless it's close to being as good).

If your space challenged, the 8 foot table is a good way to go.
If you want the Black look for your room, the Big G is right.
The Big G is a good table and for 2K all in, I think you should go for it.

3,500 dollars is a lot of cash. However, if you think about the time you will spend on that table over the next couple of decades it only come down to a few cents.

Also, are you sure the seller just isn’t uninformed? Maybe he’s confused because it isn’t actually 108”. Some folks don’t realize that 9 ft isn’t actually a 9 ft playing surface.

$1000 for the table, and $1000 for delivery, setup, and 860? That's not a bad deal. A Gandy is a good playing table.... If the installers know what they are doing.

We paid $2000 for our Gold Crown 3, had to move it ourselves, install (still an on going endeavor), buy the 860HR ($400),
and a new nogahyde cover ($170).

The question that remains is who is doing the install for you? If it's set up properly, you wont be disappointed.

They used to be all over the south. Play decent. Just not built anywhere near GC-like. In a home room its a good pick-up. They just weren't stout enough for long-term commercial use. Don't see many for sale 'cause they just wore out and are almost impossible to get parts for.

The one that was in our local hall held up very well. But they took good care of it too.

had to be careful with the skirts. made of pb and broke pretty easy. also had problems with slates cracking. to me they just played funny. could have been all in the set-up. i've known more than one good mechanic that never liked working on them. they were popular because they were quite a bit less than a GC. i can't believe they go for this kinda $ these days. used to see them on craigslist for 4-500bux.

I agree they play funny. The rail rebound consistency just isn't the same as a commercial Brunswick even with new premium rubber.

Its not as good as the GC3 but you wont be unhappy with the Gandy
and Simonis 860 cloth.

Obviously a Gold Crown would be better, but there are good alternatives.

We tried to look at an AMF Grand Prix. Would have been happy with that. But the guy kind of disappeared on us. Wouldn't answer our messages.

Then got ahold of Trent. He offered us a Brunswick Sport King. Another good table. We would have been very happy with that, but it wasnt a 9 foot. Our hearts were set on a 9 foot.
