Did viking use a "radial" pin/joint, also,

What is the difference between a
"radial" joint
"3/8 x 10" joint
and a "3/8 x 11" joint

what is the difference and what is better and why?

Thanks for the info you can provide,

Viking never used the Radial pin to my knowledge.
Radial has rounded threads, most 3/8-10 have standard v threads and most 3/8-11 have v threads with a flat minor diameter for snugger fit. Those descriptions do not always hold true, but that is the norm.
Those are the normal differences, but for the question about "what is better and why?" I will leave to others for their opinions.

From my research, radial threads were designed to rotate under load with minimal resistance. Standard 'v' shaped threads were designed for fasteners to apply torque without stripping, like a joint in a cue. All the designs have their pros and cons. As a cuemaker, it's our job to decide which fits our applications best and which shortcomings are most easily overcome.

Wood does not tap the same as metal. If you are not tapping with live tooling, the Radial thread design gives the most complete cut and best thread engagement for working with wood.
