i lost it friday night, just lost it. after another frustrating night of racking and breaking with hardly any decent chances to run out i lost it.

the clincher was when on 3 straight breaks i made a ball and 3 straight times a ball rolled into my path at the last moment. i totally lost it on the 3rd time. i threw the sneaky pete, it shattered into a few pieces. i grabbed a couple of balls and slung them, one went through my paneling. i was pretty much yelling at the top of my lungs like a crazy man.

i am going to place my Bible on the table when i get home tonight, and get some of that Holy Water the Catholics use and sprinkle the table. at this point in time i will try anything. i am at my wits end.

Have you ever thought about putting up a punching bag in the corner of your room? That way you can beat the crap out of that instead of damaging your house or a cue.

Have you ever notice people with bad attitudes are always the ones with bad luck. When you are always pointing out the negative in a situation you will start looking for the negative when it isn't even there. If I broke three times in a row and made a ball everytime, I'd be happy that I still had control of the table and could push out. Sounds like to me you are practicing to be inconsitant. It isn't very likely to break and run out all the time, but this is what you are trying to practice. When top players string a lot of racks together it just comes. They aren't expecting it it just happens. The only thing they are expecting is to deliver the good stroke that they practice and to have there cue ball stop where they want it to. If the cue ball luckily gets kick in, oh well they did what they wanted to and are content with that. If it happens everytime they will change something. Good player expect good things and they normally get them. They don't harp on the bad.

another hobby..

maybe you should pick up chess or checkers or something.. cause until you learn to control that attitude then the bad rolls are just going to keep coming... like Earthquake said in the Color of money... "it just keeps getting worse and worse... " (or something to that affect)... if you cant control your temper when you are just practicing then i dont know what else to tell you other than take some time off and have a few cold ones... just relax... dont get me wrong i take this game very very serious... but after all it is only a game...

Don't listen to these guys. Next time you get a bad roll, take your most expensive cue, and just hack the crap out of it with a handaxe. Then set your table on fire. It makes you feel better.

In all honesty though, getting upset because of bad rolls off the BREAK is just overreacting, big time. The break has a huge luck factor. Not even Bustamante gets a good shot all the time when he pockets 2 or 3 balls on the snap. Now as for bad rolls, I don't really get upset. Now, if I were shooting a case 9 ball, and suddenly a big fly landed on the table, in the patch of the 9-ball, having the 9-ball run over it and veer off it's course, that would piss me off, but I wouldn't break my cue. The fly already got what it deserved.

Here's what you need to do. Either quit the game, or try some medication.
Stay away from heavy drugs like heroin, morphine etc.......Take a valium! :D

there is no such thing as luck - you create your own bad rolls and continue to acting like such a jerk - whether it affects anyone else or not. Grow up - that's life, it's not fair, blah...blah...blah

well congrats you have just entered the real world were not everything goes your way. my breaks are almost the same frequently and i have come to deal with it, just think about it this way at least your still at the table. just because your breaking and not running out doesnt mean you cant be a dominate player. you could still roll out and be in control of the table. but what you may want to try is hitting the rack either a little harder or softer. either way though relax, its just a game made to make you happy and relax. dont sweat the small stuff once you relax a little and just concentrate on game and things will start working out................

I can really relate to this, my game really feeds off my break, but since i got a new cue the balls have really rolled against me, i broke a game of 8 ball in a tourney an put 12 balls across the side pocket, and didn't make a ball, i can tell when i hit the rack good by the cue balls reaction, and it's amazing how many breaks i will hit really sweet, and leave a runout but not make a ball. I agree with willie, if i don't think the odds are with me breaking an running against a good player i will break safe, this also annoys the hell out of you're opponent. This doesn't have anything to do with pool, i think it's more of a personality issue, i have dealt with my problem that way, and it has helped some. Theres nothing wrong with getting mad, but i don't think i would console into someone else about it, i think the answer lies within yourself, if you really want to get better, you will find a way to over come this. Theres an old saying, positive things happen to positive people, it's really corny but it's true. Saying that, most of the time you will only be breaking half of the time, I've gotten to the point where i almost prefer my opponent breaking, if you are the better player, more times than not you will still win, even if you can't make a ball on the break. Maybe you should work on improving other parts of you're game to improve you're over all game, cause even the best breakers have bad days, if you can build up other areas, then come back to breaking maybe u would be better off. Try to focus on yourself and not breaking, and understanding yourself will help you to relax and deal with problems you encounter.

There is a story on one of the Accu-Stats tapes -- I think with Buddy Hall as one of the commentators where one of them is talking about a player that had a famously bad temper. Apparently the bad-tempered player lost a key match and announced his good cue was doomed. One of his buddies stepped in and said "Don't break it, I'll give you $200 for it!", but the player responded, "$200 won't save it" KERRRSNNNAAAPPP!!!! :) :)
