Difference between Uni-Loc, United & Wavy Joints

I was looking at a couple of cues a custom & Mezz the custom had a uni-loc joint & the Mezz the wavy joint & was wondering if I was to get a Mezz is it possible to use a Katana shaft with them. That's why I need to know the difference.

If you wan`t to use a Katana shaft on a Mezz with United Joint, you need a 5/16-14 Katana shaft and take it to your local cue repair person to have it tuned so it fits the slightly tigheter 5/16-14 United Joint

I'm pretty sure that when you try out a Mezz shaft, you won't care that the Katana shaft doesn't fit the Mezz.
