Difference in spin with 12.75 tip and 13.

How much of a difference in spin do you get between these tip sizes?

Also, do you notice a difference in spin with a new tip vs. one that is a little broken in?

I've played with both sizes although I've never tried to measure the difference in spin. Thats not much difference in size. It seems if I stroke properly, I get plenty of juice with either size. As far as tips go, it seems that after you have played them for some hours, they do get a more consistant feel to them imo. Still I think the amount of spin is more related to the quality of the stroke. I'm sure the size difference has an effect but I think it's less than proper cueing.

Assuming both have the same dime radius. The is no difference because of the tip size. Its where the tip contacts the cue ball that makes the difference. The smaller the tip, the lower you can cue, other than that, there is no difference.

Including 11.75mm tips? (ie. Z shaft, I3)

There is no difference. You can hit whitey with maximum offset using high, low or side with any size tip within reason. The spin results will be the same. Time to put this overused term to bed. Its your stroke/accuracy that spins the ball more.

I used to use snooker cues to play pool, 10 & 11mm tips. I now use a 13mm tipped pool cue. I'd say the amount of spin I get now is pretty close to what I got with the smaller tips. Hell, most times I bend the CB around an OB I get too much movement! I think it's just a matter of getting used to your cue & tip.

????????????

Try masse shot with 13mm an try with 12 3/4. Which one curves the ball the most? You can get more spin with the smaller shaft.

Is that because the 13+mm is most likely to have a nickle radius instead of the dime radius on the smaller tips?

I've never seen a thread with this many responses that I agree with. I'm amazed!

13mm is standard for a reason. If you want more spin, learn a real stroke.

I was simply wondering because I hit two different cues that gave me fairly different results. The cheaper, older cue actually gave me more spin. It also had a harder tip, whichi I thought decreased spin vs a softer tip. That made me wonder if there was a difference with different tip sizes. The two shafts did have a slightly diffrent taper also. I have never had that make a difference before though.
