Difficulty Racking The Back Balls

I still struggle with the break. Admittedly i havent played much the last several months due to everything thats been going on but the last few days i have been breaking racks of 9-ball and seeing how i do.

The problem i am having is that the balls in the back of the rack, say the back six balls, just dont seem to get much action on the break. They just seem to hang around where the spot is, they dont move much.

I've tried tapping the balls, but it just seems like that doesnt help much either. As a result i get really poor spreads, balls dont go down, and frustration sits in.

Any tips on how to get those back balls to freeze together better?

Look closer and see which balls specifically aren't freezing. Change the location that you are putting those balls in. There is some variance on the size of balls throughout a lot of sets and they may not fit together well. I'll hold the outside of the rack tight and roll it back and forth to see if any of the interior balls are loose. If they are I move them to the outside and see if that works.

Worn balls are always an issue when getting good racks.... a normal triangle and tapping the table only tends to make it even worse....

Outsville released the Accu-Rack templates which is one way you can combat racking with and on worn equipment...

With that said I would be remiss in telling you to buy the rack templates without also pointing out that it might be time to consider buying your own set of balls and carrying them out when you go play...

Most players and room owners don't really realize how fast and how much the balls wear or how much the wear can affect the game....

So 1) Buy a premium set of balls and carrying case
or 2) Buy The Accu-Rack System by Outsville...

I'd only do 2 IF you don't like the idea of carrying a set of balls when you go out or you like the idea of spending $25 over the price of a new set of Aramiths....

And actually I prefer to replace the OR with the AND and you could do both =) But that part of decision is up to you.. The templates fix problems with the balls and with a table that has been worn out and beat to death so even with new balls some tables just don't want to get the balls frozen....

Well, i have been playing with the Aramith Super Pros that i bought about ten years ago. I have a set of the Centennials that i have rarely played with so the next time i am over at my pool table i will get them out and see if that helps the problem any.

Thanks for the responses. Looking forward to any more input.
