Has this made anyone first hand better? For 80$ I'm probably gonna try it as a toy/gadget to play with. But not having the data like the cue md one I would think it's hard to improve with! Anybody have one?

I doubt it would make anyone that much better in the week that's it's been available but it would immediately tell you that something is wrong.

It helps a ton with pointing out to people that have issues that they have issues instead of just listening to someone tell them that.

I put it on a cue of a younger guy that plays in a tournament with me last night, and he said it was vibrating on every shot. He does not have a very good stroke and jumps up a lot, along with moving his body into the shot almost every time, I worked with him for a bit to have him stay down more and to even out the stroke but he regresses back into old habits quickly. Maybe having a constant feedback that makes you feel like you are messing up with a buzz vs just a missed shot would help more.

Some good feedback! We actually just reposted the DigiCue video on our Facebook page today and here was the first comment "Al Whinery I got mine last week and experienced immediate improvement. I suspect the better you are, the quicker the improvement."

Many people are seeing the same thing. I know a very good player who got it two days ago and he just sent me a message saying it took him 4 straight hours to beat Level 1 (novice mode) which is shooting 9 shots in a row and not have it vibrate. He is now on Level 2 intermediate mode (and may be stuck there a while)!

A friend of mine has one and I gave it a try for a few minutes.

I like it as a tool to get better. Having different strokes being immediately confirmed as solid or poor was really interesting.

The problem is that... well... I have a better stroke than I thought I did, apparently. Quite often, the reason I was missing a shot wasn't the stroke at all... it's because I have no freaking clue where I'm aiming!

So, in short, the Digicue made my practice more effective... which, in turn, confirmed that I need more practice.

Cheers,

Mike

If it's not buzzing as much as you think it should, try the higher difficulty settings.

I've never been a gadget guy and but I am interested in this. Do you feel a change in the weight of the cue when using it?

Mike, I am glad you are finding value in the DigiCue. On the surface the product does help you improve your fundamentals, but on the deeper level (and a bit harder to explain in marketing) it will force you to keep your body/head/eyes still enough to start picking up on cue ball delivery errors that you weren't able to see beforehand. I feel that the visual improvement drives the improvement in fundamentals; in other words, a better stroke may just be a symptom of learning heightened awareness in cue ball contact-point-to-contact-point visual verification.

This is exactly how the DIgiCue has helped me the most.

Enjoy!

Nate

I disagree. You definitely notice the extra weight on the butt of the cue. It is not problematic but for sure noticable.

Agreed, my snooker cue is 18.5 ounces and my pool cue is 19.5 ounces. The weight difference is very noticeable for me. But I can certainly live with 0.8, I doubt that would affect my stroke when using it.

I received mine today. Before league tonight I took it for a test run on the novice level. Every stroke vibrated. I went back to my pool school fundamentals SPF with RandyG. I just couldn't get it even with focusing and bearing down.

It then occurred to me. I have the beginning of essential tremors in my bridge and backhand. Is it possible for these tremors to affect my results.

Also should the bumper be removed prior to installing?

It does not track what happens before you hit the cueball, only what happens after.

You don't need to take the bumper off, I used it on 4 different cues and did not need to remove it.

Just ordered on on Seyberts.. Using the promo code APARULES, I got it for around 75 shipped. Not too shabby. Looking forward to trying it out.

I guess my question is if my hands tremor after the stroke? Just started within the last 18 months.

If after, I would think that it certainly may cause an issue, but I don't know for sure, maybe ask OB on facebook or their support email. I know they post here but probably not as often as they check their support email. Your issue may be pretty common especially (no offence) among the older players that use the thing.

Since it does check for "swipe" or twisting of the cue during the shot, if the shaking moves the cue in a similar manner it would throw off the sensor.

I messaged obcues on Facebook. They provided some advice on what to do. They advised the tremors shouldn't be a problem.

Still not sure on that one though but we will see. The thing is after the stroke my backhand does shake. I just want it to NOT vibrate at least once to confirm.

Maybe I need to borrow Earls weighted glove to reduce the tremor.....lol

Try locking your cue onto your chest after your impact, the way Snooker players do. Also try leaning over the ball more, chin almost on or touching the cue.

My review so far..

First a little about my skill level, at 47, I've been playing about 35 years. Have been a high-level league player for many years, even beat a couple of pro's at the Derby although this happens rarely. I run 2-3 racks of consecutive 8-ball on a 9 foot Diamond Pro with 4.5" pockets, I hit em pretty straight.

Having used the digicue 5-6 hours this past weekend, I have struggled greatly. Even though I consistently can cue over a straight line going through the cue ball, I rarely get it to NOT vibrate even on the easiest setting. I can split the pocket on a long straight in shot, freeze the CB dead and it still vibrates. Have I no idea? The cue is staying on line but still vibrates at least 8 or 9 out of 10 most cases?

Could it be possible that mine is defective or I'm just compensating somehow? Very frustrated as no matter what I do, I can't get it to not vibrate?

Thank you for the feedback.

Based on what you wrote, I would guess the error may be caused by you coming up on the shot. The DigiCue records your stroke from the moment of impact between tip and cueball and then for the next 3/4 of a second afterwards. My suggestion would be to exaggerate how long you stay down/still on the shot and see if that eliminates the vibrations.

If it is not you coming up off the shot then I would suggest that you may be steering unintentionally. Place a cube of chalk on the back of the pocket in the center. Line up a straight in shot. Obviously if everything is inline your tip will be pointing at the center of the cueball, the center of the object ball, the center of the pocket and the cube of chalk. Shoot the shot and when your follow through is complete, your tip should still be pointing at the cube of chalk. If it is not then you are steering.

Without seeing you play, those are my two best suggestions. It is highly unlikely the DigiCue is defective based on what you have said.

One last bit of advice is to A: Have another good player or instructor watch you and give feedback and B: Have that same person try the DigiCue themselves and you watch them and also see if they can shoot on Level 1 without it vibrating.

Let me know how you get on.
