ok, thx too scarmouche!! (sorry i couldnt give u more reps, i have to spread around first) i finaly saw the last frames of ding's final vs ronnie. g/f forgot to tape it and i was ... well prity sad to have missed it. was hoping for a ding ronnie final since the quarters...

anyway, just saw the match, and i almost had tears too (but im a man so i dont cry, i said ALMOST!! )

i can only imagine how he must have felt. even if its never cool to give up a match seeing the audience etc, but sometimes one game of snooker can go true the core of a person, and touch u there where u never thought a ballgame could touch u, and at that moment you are so mad at yourself u feel like u dont even deserve to be playing, and the audience and everything around it makes u feel so lonely.

SO :) it made me think the first (and currently only) time i experienced the same. i participated in the states finales, and it was really a day where i wanted to achieve something to be proud of. no idea why , but it was just the right day on the right time to go over my current game and get to the next step officially. I lost my first match pritty horribaly due to not being awake enough. the engine was running cold, and i got on the wrong side of the draw pritty quick. almost blew up my motiviation to go far, but i draw my 'mentor' and probably the guy i respect the most in the belgium poolscene. a guy who encouraged me to start doing tournaments and i know respects me. i had beaten him once in a short race in a training, but NEVER ever in a tournament. hi's class is way over mine, and he could teach me a new thing every day if he wanted.

so, i gave it all, concentrated on everything i had been training on, mainly body language and aligment, preshot, the hole shabang. and i beat him, fear and square. no luck, i just was playing a better game on that moment. that gave me huge boost, and i won my next matches.

then came the last match for a qualification for the last 8. a place in the quarterfinals, something i never had achieved in a state championship. i felt confident, really ready for ta batle, and then i lost it. i mean TOTALLY. after one rack i imedtiatly understand something was TERREBLY wrong. and it reminded me of that when i saw ding. its like shooting with your left hand, blindfold after drinking 2 bottles of BAD whisky. pool never ever seemed SO hard like then. it felt like a baby who still needs to walk. Horrible hoorrible feeling, and i feel really bad for ding, experiencing this in a FINAL. mine was only for a qualification (even if in my head it was a final)

so we played, and everything went wrong. i snookered myself with BIH, scratched in the 8, couldnt find any angle, pots where WAY off, not even hitting the tits of the pockets, and i just wanted it to be over. just like ding, i wanted to give up , and said id go to the toilet, see if i could find ANYTHING there, but nothing. so i just let him play his 5 wins, and wanted to go home with the tail in between my legs.

luckily for me, the story ended a bit better but still i lost, but its still the most momoriable match ive played. one ill never forget. at 4-0, he missed the 8 for the win. i had already trown in the towel in my head, so i just played for proud. i didnt wanted that donut, and without any confiction i cleared it. i got the break, and sudenly everthing was rocking. cleared 2 racks in a row faster then i could say hallo, and played a good snooker afterwords to clean, and came back 4-4. solly to break, i dogged the 8 for a place in the quarters. my opoonent clears and misses the 8 too. we tried to pot the 8 but leaving it hard if missed, and i think we both missed 2 hard 8's, and i missed the first easy chance for the 8. banked it, and just ratled out of the pockets. my opponent ofcourse then won the match.

till now a ding' moment only really happened once. and i hope it will stay like that. have u guys same experiences u would like to share about your deepest moment in pool?

special note to ding: you are one of the greatest already. u might havent showed it in the finals, but everyone knows u are a TOP TOP player, and one day it might be ronnie who will be trowing in the towle. keep on ding! heads up, and enjoy the 147.000 :) u got that record already :p youngest 147 ever.

ps: does anyone know what has been said in the audience? i couldnt hear it from the youtube video.
ps2: i know alot of negative things have been said about ronnie, but he's REALLY a good guy, with the heart in the right place. ofc he wont GIVE ding some games for free, i mean they are pro's, but how he conforted ding was just a prove of how human ronnie is. A+ ronnie :D still worlds best player in the world. (ps doesnt that double bank shot on the snooker make u think of efren's greatest shot ever? but ronnie does it on a snookertable :p

thx AGAIN scaramouche for giving me a chance to see the final :D this saves my g/f some punishing :D
