Hello all.. I recently bought a cue on ebay, it's a nice looking cue and plays well. But the shaft is really filthy, bluing bad and grimy. Is there anyway to get it good and clean with out harming it?? Also, are any of the things they say are to condition it any good. Such as waxes, shark oils, Q slick?? Thanks for the help!!

Many thread topics on this. Doing a quick search would get you tons of results.
Mr. Clean Magic Eraser works well. Followed up with a wipe down of lighter fluid or high % alcohol, then a good burnishing.
I cleaned up a 19 year old shaft and made it look brand new.

I would not ever use alcohol on one of my shafts because alcohol off the shelf usually contains a very high percentage of water. Water will possibly make your shaft warp.

Denatured alcohol then?
Kinda toxic though.
Mineral spirits ?

mr clean eraser dampened in denatured alcohol, then some 2000 grit sandpaper to take the edge off and burnish it, super smooth

Leave it to the Pros

Have you considered taking it to a qualified technician? With that much use it probably needs a tip as well. If the tip on it looks useable, who is to say that it is the hardness you desire.

I say leave it to the Pros if you have one within 30 miles or so.

Thanks everyone for the info.. I'm going to do a little more research. The Magic Eraser sounds good.. As for the sending it to a pro not a bad idea, but I want to learn how to do it myself, however not at the expense of the shaft. lol lol

unique products ---cue shaft cleaner in the red labeled white bottle...

is the beesknees.....chemically extracts dirt and grime and will clean up years of gunk and goo....will also whiten the shaft when used with some heat, ie blowdryer...

i bought a bottle several years ago and still use it....used it last nite as a matter of fact....a little bit of it goes a long way....

hit billiardbum up on how to get some of it...and tell him i sent ya ;)

I dont know about q-clean, but i have a bottle of q'glide, and i find it to be useless, and it usually leaves the shaft kind of sticky.
