This is a discussion thread, (It means there are things to bash on, please be constructive)
In pool is there something equivalent to the Stanley Cup, NBA champsionship, NFL superbowl, or some
trophy a sport is associated with.
And no wives do not count as trophies and marriage is not a sport, but if the joke is really good then tell it. {I mean really really good, really}
Pool does have a great history of bringing cultures together, could be a major selling point. Some of these pool tournaments are about the only way some areas get exposed to other cultures. Pool players are ambassadors of nations.
How nice to know everyone likes to gamble, but the point is chasing a dream.
The commitment involved in chasing a dream is huge. I dont think any of the trophies in pool are hyped up, they are just given in out. That is a major failure in connecting with the fans.
It lacks a sense of the ultimate, cash is not the ultimate quest in terms of a sport. At least for advertising purposes.
Pool has good parallels to draw requiring the commitment of a fighter.
surgical concentration, self assessment decides whether one wins or not
A sport where wit and tact are only as formidable as an opponents skill.
There is also some integration with male and females competiting together, that alone is more progression than some third world nations.
Titles are given to frequently to merit some type of legacy sense. Same goes for the Hall of fame.
Whats your take on this? What have you noticed?
