Dissolved plastics

Has anybody ever used dissolved ABS as an adhesive? I've been doing a bit of reading concerning stabilization and stumbled across this other application. It sounds like it could be useful.

Hello Paul, this type of stabilizing has been done for some time now and it is very dangerous! When this is done they take acetone and chemicals dissolve plastics in acetone and when you mix the two together you get dangerous explosive fumes, as with all stabilizing it will be put under vacuum and when this is done some homemade stabilizing resins become very unstable and can explode, myself being a developer of stabilizing resins we do extensive testing on products to determine their vapor points and flash points under vacuum, 99% of the home brew stabilizing resins fall under the very high flash points due to the products used to dissolve plastics like you are talking about, many people don’t realize that all vacuum pumps are not sealed and when these home brew stabilizing products are put under vacuum they begin to vaporize and when this happens they explode! Most vacuum pumps exhaust come out right at the motor and this is where the explosion occurs, another thing to think about is the chemical you are using to make your home brew stabilizing resin will also break down some of the materials that some chambers are made of!!! So when I hear of people making home brew stabilizing resin by dissolving plastics in acetone or other chemicals it really makes me nervous and I need to tell them to beware! It might have work for you for a long time but it only takes the right temperature and humidity and one spark and you will have big problems! Just my two cents on the whole deal! Be careful

I am not talking about stabilizing. I am talking about bonding. No pumps or vacuum or chambers involved.
