DIY Portable Workbench

I need a sturdy portable setup for my Unique Cue Companion lathe.

I don't want to spend $500 for the bench direct from Unique.

I want to be able to work local bars on league and tournament nights, and I want something sturdy, yet easily transported and set up / broken down.

I can build a bench myself as long as it's a simple design, (I don't have access to a shop or a whole lot of tools. Anyone have any ideas or plans?

Any and all help would be appreciated. :)

Black & Decker work mate from lowe's or Home Depot will work. Folds up so you can cary in one hanh.

I built mine out of 1-1/4" PVC pipe and plumbing fittings from Home Depot, slapped some wheels on it and was good to go. Mine breaks down into three sections and fits in the back of my Escape. Don't remember the cost now but it had to be less than $125.00. Side benefit is that I can now move it around as needed in my shop so it serves a dual purpose.

Stoney

You could ask the owner of the establishment to let you use a fold up table as most places have a few available. I would reccomend pick up and drop off as being preferable to working on the spot though.

Was it maybe Uncle Waldo who advertised a Porper lathe and portable bench in the Sale section.
Heres a link to the portable bench he listed.

Harbor freight has a cheaper one for $90 http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=40612

Menards has a really cheap one on sale for $40 right now.

I'm sure they aren't as nice as the Porter Cable but they aren't $180 either.

Not a beauty contest anyway. It does the trick and has wheels on it.
Pretty decent price. Unfortunately we don't have Lowes or Menards in Canada.
