Do new tips get harder with use?

I was time to put a new tip on my playing cue. I had been using kamui Black soft and wanted to try something new and in a medium. I decided to try a BlackHeart medium tip.
I used it the first day and I didn't like it because it was giving me way more English than I was used to getting and it through my game off. I was also missing more long straight shots due to getting unwanted english without a perfect stroke. I didn't experience this with my kamui black
Today I decided to give it one more chance before deciding to replace or not. as I was playing today it seemed to play better and better and I wasn't getting the unwanted extra english I had experienced the last time I used it.
so I'm curious if new tips have a break in period? and if they get harder with use than the are when brand new? it definitely played different and better today. thanks

Kinda obtuse but you could experiment with tip radius. Flatter is more forgiving until you need lots of juice.

I don't think any tip produces more spin than any other, so you might consider what other reason(s) there may be for getting "extra" spin. My suspicion is that you experienced "new tip syndrome", which (like new cue syndrome) makes you pay closer attention to what you're doing, maybe resulting in more accurate tip/ball placement. If so, there's an important lesson in that: pay closer attention to tip/ball accuracy.

Soft tips most certainly get harder with usage, and generally require reshaping after mushrooming at least twice and sometimes as many as four or five times over the first 25-50 hours of play before they become hard enough to hold their shape and not mushroom anymore.
