I disagree with the notion that you only have to jump if you can’t kick. I do both poorly so I pick my poison accordingly.

I have a jump/break cue in my bag. The vast majority of my play does not allow jump cue use (APA) so it doesn't get used as a jump cue often, tho I do jump full length with it upon occasion. Every blue moon or so, I play in a local tourney that allows for jump cues, and I even broke mine down and tried it once recently...heh.

I voted yes.

I have one but I don't know how to use it :) I got it cheap- maybe I'll learn how to use it someday

I have a dedicated jump. Why?:

If I'm playing a certain level player A+ and up..... well, EVERY SINGLE ONE of those players can:

Kick
Kick safe
Lock your A55 in jail

Now, if a player like that uses a jump cue.... lol you DAMN WELL BETTER have one.

If I'm player MOST ALL players below ^^^^^^^^;; their levels...... well, I almost never even take my jump cue out as I know I will not need it since what the safes will be weak.

If the rules say yes then I'd be all for it. I never got accustomed to using one because most of the places I played in the past wouldn't allow them due to fears of ripping the felt.
I always find that funny. Jumping with a full length cue has a greater risk imp to tear the cloth than a jump cue.

I probably have the most expensive jump cue around and I think I've only used it in a match 1x. I prefer to kick but there may be a situation where I need to jump, so I carry it always.

I don't jump. I actually prefer kicking. If you are confident using the rails then you can play a kick safe.
Most players that jump are not even closely proficient at jumping. I find that most of the time I get ball in hand after an opponent jumps and even if they make a good hit and make their ball they have no shape on their next shot.
I do know a few guys the are deadly with a jump stick but they are 1 in 50.

^^^^^What he says except I do carry a jump cue. In the 4 or 5 years I have had it I have used it exactly 3 times in competition, once even to make the game winning ball. I prefer to kick and feel confident doing so.

2 actually 1 for big table other for barbox. Whole new can of worms!!!

.............and go
