Curious how many players shoot with a regular shaft. Or has most of the pool World gone LD already.

I started with regular shafts, then went to LD for a while. Liked them overall but som shots gave me trouble. It was almost too LD such that my brain just couldn't find handle the shift without some compensation and I'd miss short to hold shots with spin.

Tried going back to standard 13mm shafts and had trouble with deflection, just had too much.

Finally settled into a 12mm standard maple shaft and found something that just felt right and matched my minds expectations for deflection such that spin shots just feel natural. I also find standard shafts are better for tough shots for me, I feel I have a better feel with it.

I still think LD shafts are good though and they definitel do what they propose to do. They're a good option for a lot of people and I can see why many choose them.

What's a "trucker shaft"?

I bet it hits a mutha truckin ton.......

I played with regular shafts for over 25 years, and played a high B, low A speed at high gear. I then messed around with the LD shafts when they came out and hated them. Couldnt make a ball with spin. Sold off quickly.
It wasnt until I talked to a buddy who explained why he liked them that I gave them another chance. I basically gave in to changing some things about my aim and stroke, then the LD shafts made sense. I have played with one for almost 10 years, and my high gear is still low A speed....... LOL
Seriously though, they added some more consistency into my game, and thats why I like them. ;)

Which one do you vote for if you play with a std. maple shaft that has low deflection? Brian.

You should have added both as a choice. I switched to a LD shaft and it took a little time to adjust but now I go back and forth as I have several cues I enjoy playing with and once you have played with both there isn't much of an adjustment to switch. Currently I'm playing with a much less expensive regular cue/shaft than my LD one. Hey, variety is the spice of life. Just sayin'
